    Drive Hardware Question BJ26

Ok everybody I'm very new to this so go easy on me. I realize the stock steerable system on the Blackjack 26 is a very weak link. My question is..... Is there an advantage to having an offset rudder vs. an inline one? I like the one they sell on this site but it's been out of stock for some time.

Go with offset. Also make sure the leading edge of the rudder is behind the prop. There are a ton of struts and rudders out there that will work on that hull.

BEcause in many situations (not all if far enough away) the rudder will introduce churned up water that then gets in the path of the prop and blow out!

It does not have to be all the way behind but I like it at least equal to the middle of the prop or more. If you hull is wide enough then no problem but the BJ is pretty narrow.

The inline system should be instock within a couple of weeks. They have finally came off backorder from the manufactuer.
As far as an offset system. You can buy the parts. There is a really good post in the blackjack section with many ideas.
