    3 excellent hardware upgrades...

Blackjack 26 drive train upgrade #1 ........... OK 2 EXCELLENT AND ONE BUDGET HARDWARE UPGRADE..

    Fuller and speedmaster
Parts list Offshore Electric part numbers.
    Drive cable .150 X 3/16 P/N HUG-E1067SP $23.99
    Stuffing tube liner ¼ X .150 P/N OCT150T-24 $2.75
    Bullet prop nut P/N OC6PNMM $2.99
    Rudder Speedmaster mini rudder P/N ROS-MINI_RUD $39.95
Octura Coupler Short P/N OCT OCFHE 5MM 15S $9.95 (OPTIONAL)
    NOTE
You can use the offshore electric Drive cable .150 X 3/16 assembled
$19.99 or assemble it yourself for $9.99.. But you will need to run the threads farther on the shaft to be able to position the shaft properly in the strut.

    Fuller Parts
31/4 HV SUPER strut bracket fuller prod code 332 $24.95
12-32 cell SUPERSTRUT 21/2” for 150 cable and 3/16 stub shaft
    Product code 292 $23.00

Blackjack 26 drive train upgrade #2 and #3
    For the budget minded
Two options here . One being that you can order the hardware for the
Formula Fastech for around $50.00 but you will still be running the 1/8
Inch drive shaft.. ( Less prop options)

The setups number 2 and number 3 require minimal Drilling. As number 2 may only
require drilling the holes for the rudder and number 3 requires you drill for the rudder
and fill and re drill the two bottom holes for the strut bracket. Also number 2 and 3 allow you to leave the radio box intact for a factory look, Also the old filled holes for the strut bracket are hidden under the bracket and not visable on setup #3..

Fuller and Proboat upgrade #3 (gets rid of the 1/8 shaft for the more poplar 3/16 one)

2 inch HV SUPER strut bracket fuller prod code 333 $22.95
12-32 cell SUPERSTRUT 21/2” for 150 cable and 3/16 stub shaft
    Product code 292 $23.00

    Offshore electric
Contact Steve and he can order the formula fastech rudder for $18.99
    Drive cable .150 X 3/16 P/N HUG-E1067SP $23.99
    Stuffing tube liner ¼ X .150 P/N OCT150T-24 $2.75
    Bullet prop nut P/N OC6PNMM $2.99
Octura Coupler Short P/N OCT OCFHE 5MM 15S $9.95 (OPTIONAL)

    NOTE
You can use the offshore electric Drive cable .150 X 3/16 assembled
$19.99 or assemble it yourself for $9.99. But you will need to run the threads farther on the shaft to be able to position the shaft properly in the strut.

    NOTE
All these setups put the prop very close to or behind the back of the rudder thus
Eliminating prop wash from hitting the rudder.. Which I believe helps with speed.

Also I almost forgot. Fullers strut brackets can be mounted two different ways.
thats radius up or radius down. I prefer radius down. but if you mount radius up
you can use the shorter super strut thats 1 7/8 inch long versis the 2 1/2 inch strut.
I've got one each way and they work well either way. You will have more down /neg
prop adjustment with the 2 1/2" strut but I haven't found that theres any advantage to it.

You might also consider the ProBoat ThunderCat 31 (TC31) strut assembly...

      It's setup for a 3/16" stubshaft.

The BJ26 SS rudder also looks like a nice unit:

As soon as I'm finished with the updates to my Elam, I'm going to start another race prep build of the BJ26 FE, and I intend to use the parts above to do the conversion to fixed drive...

This update, and some rid-pad work, are all I really see as being needed to make this a competitive setup for the LSO class...

TC 31 strut looks pretty good but I went with the fastech rudder because
I like the polished metal look. I buff all parts out to a mirror finish before instalation.
        also not a red fan...

That's cool... I believe it's exactly the same part without the anodizing...

No thats not the one I use. The speedmaster mini rudder and the Fuller strut
and bracket are the ones I have tested.
But that strut might work if you get the right bracket combo.
I perfer the fuller strut as it seems to be of higher qualtity.

Great idea with this cost effective combo! I ordered it up today and we'll see how the install and performance goes.

Does the Fastech rudder have enough set back? I noticed the speedmaster has 2 "

yes the fast-tech rudder has plenty of set back. It works great with the fuller
2" strut bracket and strut. And you can order the pro boat parts from Steve at offshore.

I would definitely recommend going through Steve here at offshoreelectrics. The fast-tech rudder / TC31 strut and bracket combo only ended up being $43.

Hey guys... I just received my TC31 hardware and it's WAY too large for this application. I wouldn't have thought it'd be this bulky, but it is... It'd be great for a bigger application, but for the BJ26, I think it's just going to be too big...

Here is a picture of it, compared to others...

                            From Left to right:

                            Fuller's 6 to 8 cell
Fuller's 12-24 cell (short and long)
                            Speedmaster 21 Mono
                            TC31

It's too bad because the price is right and it's nice quality.

Do you guys prefer the rudder off to the side or directly behind the prop?
