Doby, I tried your suggestion of moving the batteries in front of the motor yesterday. It was a little choppy, a little windy and because I was on the lake, I was constantly waiting for the wake and swells to settle down from other full size boats. Overall, I was pretty happy with the way it performed. I am still relatively new to the sport, have never raced and don't have the means to check speeds so I can't really say how the boat performs compared to others. Probably lots of driver error at this stage of the game as well. The good thing is that with no other boats around. . . the only potential for damage was to the sv.

Shot a couple of videos . . . here is one.

Looks nice...It seemed to be handeling the sloppy conditions well, all things considered...I doubt it would have stayed upright for so long with the batteries in the rear location.

Try not to get hung up on the top speed issue.. If you are not planning on racing, it means nothing as long as you are having fun.(In racing its not the be all and end all either).

We were up in Alliston on Sunday running with the Northern Lights Model Boat club and decided to throw the SV's in for one race. The conditions were pretty much dead calm so I decided to put the batteries all the way back to air her out a bit....lasted two laps before it flipped Oh well, it was fun. I would say that yours looks pretty decently setup now. If those are the conditions you normally run in, then leave it as is

Thanks for the feedback. Yep. . . I'm in it for the fun. . . . and part of the fun is getting the boat to perform at its peak given the current conditions.

I hear you about the two lap thing. Being on the water with my full size boat took some of the drudgery out of the dozen or so retrievals we executed throughout the afternoon.
