    Luv my yellow supervee/superflip

Despite its barrel rolls and occasional attempt at being a yellow submarine and the fact that I am looking forward to acquiring either a UL-1 or Mystic. . . I absolutley love my sv27. Perhaps it's because it was my first FE or the fact that I spent most of the winter stripping it down repairing the hull and giving it a fresh coat of paint. . . . but it is my favourite boat to run. I have three other sv27's that intend to run with my kids and their families who will some day inherit them. . . . but the "MarshaannII will remain my favourite.

Have you left them as stock set ups or modified them? Besides fabricating some adjustable trim tabs I will probably be painting the other four hulls this winter with custom paint schemes that reflect the personalities of each grandchild. . . . a "Disney Princess" theme, a "Cars" theme etc. . . 3 girls, two boys.

I think I enjoy the tinkering almost as much as I do actually running the boats and I am looking forward to the day when all six of us can be racing our boats together. That's probably a couple of years off so I have enough time to get the fleet and the course properly set up.

the first two were pretty much stock, my current one has a UL-1 motor and controller, extra turn fin and adjustable tabs. The batteries are mounted in front of the motor in a V formation which makes it handle so much better than stock. On really calm days, I'll place the batteries in the back (stock) location but in any wind and waves, in front of the motor they go.

I'd be interested in seeing a pic of your battery placement in front of the motor. The last couple of times I ran the yellow one it spent more time coming off the crest of a little bit of chop. I adjusted the trim tabs down slightly and moved the batteries as far forward in the hull as I could but it still seemed pretty loose when I gave it full throttle in the straight away. I thought I saw some chine walking in the way it was running as well. My wife took a couple of videos that I posted to youtube but for some reason couldn't include in the thread here. They were taken on a little Canon camera. The file extension is .AVI and I didn't see it as one of the valid file extension in the instructions posted here about embedding a youtube video. You can check out the video by looking for sv27 holiday run video by teamburnside.

You may be able to suggest some changes in the set up. The boat is running with a 4s setup, 2300kv HK motor, 90 amp Aquastar ESC, adjustable trim tabs set slightly bow down, rudder tucked, and TFL 437/3 prop. I had bent the inside corners of the trim tabs as per Grimracer's suggested set up but returned them to ther original conditon on the advice of siberianhusky who I run with regulalry.

With these boats it is a fine line between go fast and go too fast
I still run my lipos beside the motor but I glued a chunck of lead in front of motor in bottom of V

So it seems. . . I'm just wondering whether the hull is approaching that fine line or not. Hardly seems that way based on the fact that the setup is pretty much stock. But then again I am a relative newcomer to the sport and am still on that learning curve. It is also the first time that I've been able to do multiple runs because I've got about six sets of batteries I can run through before having to recharge them.

Hope you can join us some time this summer for some fun running.

Happy One. . . yep I can never get used to watching the barrel rolls. I've only ever seen one blow over. . . but lots of rolls.

So, I picked up sv #4 yesterday and it came with a pair of 2700 mah NIMH batteries. I've only ever used this kind of battery in my Mini-V. Anybody know what I can expect from them as per performance and run time. I mentioned to my wife that I thought they slowed the boat down and she was okay with it because she is a little intimidated about running the FE boats because of speed.

2 minutes. . . yeah I was happy enough with the boat as a whole. . . . that I actually considered the batteries a liability because I was afraid of leaving my charger on the wrong setting when I switched back to charging lipos.
