    SV27 42x55 Results

    Alright, today conditions finally allowed me to run my SV27 with my new 42x55 prop. I was getting a top speed of about 37 with the 40x52 today, and only got 39 with the new prop. I know it's supposed to go around 50+. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. After about a 2-3 minute run, I took the boat out of the water and there was smoke from the motor. It was at 180 F and shut off just when I got it back.

    I just took a look at my trim tabs and strut, and realized the strut is angled upwards. I think this may have been causing the boat to not go to it's fullest potential. Other than that everything is set to neutral.

    What is it with my boats and smoke? Haha.

      Wizard ran his on the same setup as me and it ran 55 from what I remember.

      It's weird cause I got the same speed on the larger prop as I got on the smaller prop last time. I'll check my strut settings for the next run.

          Well the weather was great today and got a chance to run my boat. It was awesome never ran that fast before My friend Dale loaned me a Grim 42 X 55 prop
          way cool 52.7 MPH I was running a Grim 40X52/3 It ran 48.2
          That's from Wizard's thread -> http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...t=11601&page=3

          He went 48.2 with the 40x52. I think there's something wrong with my setup/trim. He was running 4s as well.

            This is the reason why I don't use a gps. Once you read someones "posting" you begin chasing your tail when you can't duplicate it. Around 40 is expected with a prop change and good hull attitude.

                Yeah I meant 52, I was just guessing with the 55.

                I just changed the angle of the strut and I think that'll help a bit. It was really hard to move it, think I'll put some WD-40 on it tomorrow and do it again.

                  Well, I'm not trying to beat him or anything. I was just comparing my results to his. If my boat is going 10mph lower than his, something must not be set right. Maybe that's why it was running hot.

                    Only 37 on 40x53 my boat ran 45.6mph consistently on 4s with the ammo motor . My trim was rudder tucked under, battery trays removed with batteries next to the motor. Neutral tabs and strut.

                      Your missing the whole point to my post. Are you using the exact setup as the other guy? Batteries, prop prep, weight, gps etc? All of this plays a big part in setup. Are your props properly sharpened and balanced? Is your boat running wet? Binding in the driveline?

                        This would be why his boat is faster.

                              Alright, guys, I'm running the EXACT same setup as Wizard. That is the only reason I am comparing my results to his.

                              I am running 2x Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 25-50c lipos. I also have the 40-50c bats, but the nanos fit a lot better.

                              I changed the angle of the strut and I'll see if that helps next week.
