New Boat Pictures and Motor Upgrade Options

I've recently picked up an SV27 and have heavily modified it. I'll be using a CC Hydra 240 ESC, a Traxxas 5 channel 2.4Ghz radio, CC BEC, and 2S/4S/6S Zippy lipo configurations. I have had a Traxxas E-revo BL for about a year now with the MMM and 2200 motor, so I have a decent knowledge of BL motors and lipos.

As of right now, I have the stock SV27 motor... it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the set up. I'm looking for upgraded motors that fall in line with my gear above.

Like I said, I have a Castle/Neu 2200 and really like them... not necessarily the 2200 particularly, but any Castle/Neu motor. I have had great experience with them so far. If there is any Castle/Neu motor that goes great with the above, let me know.

I'm also leaning towards Feigao since they seem quite popular and they're a lot cheaper. I'm thinking of a 540 8XL, but not sure? Seems like anywhere between 5-9XL, but could use some more clarification.

Also, any other good motor suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a somewhat high-powered system using 10 and 8 AWG wire throughout and need a good motor to match it all.

I have attached some pictures of my new beast!

A 540 12l or 8xl on 4s with a grim 42x55, x642 maybe even a x440 should rip. I would also get some new trim tabs. Speeds over 50mph in this hull get a little scarey, i run mid to high 40s 45-47mph and it runs very well. It actually doesnt appear like its running that fast, but gps proves other wise. Happy boating.

Its not a hull to go for max possible speed. Like Diesel said it has a top end. It can be propelled to high speeds but suffers some restrictions. It gets flighty or unstable over certain speeds. I'm not going to state what speed (cause no one has been able to demonstrate it with anything other then opinion) that is but I have one with a Neu 1512 on 3S with a 200 amp speedo and lots of prop. Its blows over almost with certainty over 50mph. Its fun to push but trust me when I say the hull is much more fun in the 40's and controllable.

The stock motor is capable of delivering speeds well in to the mid 40's. I had at one time a 7xl in mine and it was fast. I guess all I am saying is dont throw alot of money into a build that has speed limitations. If your goal is to go balls out consider some of the other hulls that can get you there. A DF29 can go faster. And a bunch of others too. What I'd like to see is someone who comes up with one that runs 40 mph for 30 minutes. Now thats bragging!

I think you'd be hull-limited on speed. I have a friend who is runing 2S1P lipos with a UL-1 upgrade and it barely holds together at top speed. Anything more I think would be probably wasted...

FWIW, I have a syncron hull, Feigao 540 9XL, Hydra 240A, 2S1P and it hauls...

I run ul power with 2x 2s in series with a grim 42x55 and negative trim. I run speeds posted above and it runs wonderfully. Doesnt get out of shape very often which is amazing for an SV

Would three 4s 5000mah lipos weigh too much for this boat? I would run them in parallel for extra long run time.

I dont think thats the best idea. Even if you could get them to fit inside which im not sure they will, with that extra runtime even with good cooling your electrics are going to be smoking hot. JMO

You might get away with two in parallel

(Note, I meant 4S, not 2S in my initial post...)

c'mon, Chris, the boat was hardly stable-- you just happen to be an awesome driver!...
