    ESC Interference

I've been running my sv27 for a couple of months now exclusively on lipos. I have a novak lvc installed. I have modded my cooling system so everything stays within limits but I'm having a problem.

At low throttle the motor stutters pretty bad and causes glitching with the rudder and sometimes the throttle will not go back to shutoff. It will also do this near mid throttle. At full throttle there doesn't seem to be an issue. If I backoff going into a turn though, the glitchin will start again.

I have a seperate CC esc that I can use and bypass the on board esc. Do you guys think that it will help any? I thought that it was the stock TX and RX equipment, and I have changed that to a Futaba system that I had in a truck......but it is still AM and still no change. I will be putting in a FM system in the next few days when it arrives.

What I can't understand is it didn't do this all of the time, it just started. Do you think the esc may be going bad? I'm running the the Grim 42x55 two blade and the system has never when into a thermal shutoff. Everything always passes the "5 second" rule.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try to see if it happens without the Novak unit connected.

I will try it at lunch time and let you know. Maybe that will be the issue.

Have you head of this lvc causing problems?......Just curious. I don't know why I haven't tried it without the lvc....just didn't think of it.

It did with my liposhield, until I cleaned the contacts.

OK. I re soldiered input power wires that were going from the batt hookup to the lvc. I thought that maybe they might have had a cold joint. Which contacts did you clean, the ones going from the lvc to the rx? It's got to be something like that........I hope.

The plugs that go from the esc to the LVC and the ones that go to the receiver.

Dom.....you da man!!! The Novak LVC is indeed the source of my glitching. Just came back from the pond and everything ran smooth as silk. Now to see if I can fix what's causing the glitch with the LVC.....if possible.

I usually come in when I see power drop off but I still like to have the lvc there.

Check that there is no corrosion on the terminals and that they are good and tight.

Well, I resoldiered all of the connections on the board with the hopes that the interference would subside, but no difference. I bought the LVC used.....it may have seen some rough use before me......even though it looked just fine when I recieved it. It also had been submerged by me on one occasion....and that could have had something to do with it's interference issues. I have ordered another LVC by another manufacturer and I'll give it a go. In the mean time I am just running until I see just the slightest drop in power and bringing it in. It is usually what I do anyway, but the LVC was just peace of mind.

What did you finally end up with? How did you resolve the issue. Inquiring minds want to know.

OK. I bought a new LVC. The Liposhield from Dimension Engineering. Works well. Before I even installed it, I sealed it with epoxy. I also recieved a "new to me" Futaba T3PDF TX and Rx that I bought from a fellow on the forum here. Any kind of glitching is pretty non-existent compared to the AM systems that come with most RTR boats.
That pretty much has me all dialed in as far as electronics. I'm just sporting around so I think I have all I need for now in that department........unless some folks on here want to buy some equipment geared more toward the heli side of the hobby........so I can buy another boat

The range on the FM band is SO much better than AM. I've never really noticed the difference between the two with flying craft.....as far as range is concerned. Sure makes a difference on the surface.
