    Closing in on 50 mph

Left work alittle early to day so I could have a chance to run my ul-1.
first run lost a 1.5 mph from previous 46.5 to 45, I had changed the strut to 1" and added an air dam at a setting of 1.5 in from leading edge of front hull, lost speed.
2nd run, changed strut depth to 1 3/16 on set up board aka kitchen counter,
I'm running a x645 prop s/b/dt untill I can get a different prop, will see if my LHS has a m445, on line I saw a grim 40-52 3 blade I think this is too big (feed back)
any way got it up to 47 mph even.
I think I might take the dam off and try again, this run was on glass, boat ran great but gets alitte wild when hitting your own wake, starts chine walking and I think my heart starts chine walking when this happens, but any way any suggestions to get this puppy to 50 mph would be great, oh, I'm running 5000
    40c zippys- flight max batts.

Run time was a bit long about 6 min

The x645 is pretty large for that motor, I get higher speeds with an m445 and lower amp draw. You could be drawing 100 amps with that big prop....

        ESC temps are 119
        batt temps are 110
motor temps are 120-130 depending where you take the temps at, body @ cooler or @ the axle on on the moter.
        hand launching.
I have alot to understand about props as far as sizes,
        If I'm correct a x645 is 1.6 pitch and 45 mm dia,am I correct?
I am seeing some are running up to a 52 mm prop or am I just inturpting this wrong?

40 x52/3 prop is the same as the stock plastic one.Try a 40 x 57/3.This is the one that most are hitting 50mph with using roughly 1" strut depth.I also used an X442 with my old UL-1 with very good results.Best all around prop I ran on it.

drifter, is that a 52 mm prop dia, is'ent that bigger than a x645.
I want to get a m445 octura prop I hear it's a kick ass prop.

                40 is diameter,52 is pitch.The 40 x 57/3 is the same diameter as stock,but with more pitch.I believe an X645 is 45mm in diameter,with a 1.6 pitch,detounged.I could be wrong about the detounging part.

I'll ask you this and you tell me what you think,
look up GRAVES hobby FL and go into props / AQ and tell me what you think and whats the best selection you recomend, also look at the octura props and let me know what you think.

                    40 x 57/3 Aquacraft prop
                    Octura X442
I only ran these two props on mine.I got to 50mph with the A.C. prop.
Ran 48 to 49 with the Octura.Cool temps with both.My opinion, your running to much diameter witht the 45's.

                      I do have a x640,x642,x645.
I have an 440-3 but I butcherd it when detonging it, chop it up, took why to much off,
                      just a learning thing.

ok, I think graves has a 40x57/3 and I'll get that tommorrow.
but with the temps I'm running with the x645 what do you think? I don't think their to high,
but within the exceptial range,( sorry about the spelling) don't you think, or am I wrong?

Temps look ok.Motor temps should be checked at the motor shaft.Thats as close as your going to get to an accurate temp. The can doesnt tell you too much.Give all the UL-1 threads a read on here and you will find more prop suggestions than I can give you.I only ran the 2 props on mine.Sometimes, running more pitch will create more heat than just increasing the diameter. If you arent running hot with the X645,try an X445.I wouldnt go any bigger than that.

Another thing to remember is this hull isnt meant to run 60mph.Its made to run in the 40's to 50mph.Just dont trash your hull trying to get speed out of it.

Gotch ya, not trying any more then 50 mph. just shooting for the speed most are looking for.
ok ,less pitch alittle more dia is that right? and I figured that the higher temps at the motor is where you should be looking at, only makes sense right?
I know that I'm a senior member on this site, and i'ts only because of how many posts I place
but I am new new to the UL-1 and trying to learn as much theres is to learn so I my pass my knowledge on to other beginners to this hobby,
I also hope to go see the winter nats in polk county fl , I'm just about an hours ride away,
I know it's only gas and nitro but it should be intresting, may learn a few thew things.
