So, what else could I try to get my speed up? I think I'm going to stick with a Grim 40x52 and I will try the 40X57 again. Both sharpened and balenced.

Also, I tried the lifter prop that Grim says is one of the best for the UL-1 but when I ran it I maxed at 25mph, so I don't really get why he says it's the best.

I tried a lifter prop 38/55 and 38/63 on my Pickle didn't like it at all. Been trying to hit 50 with my Pickle but it wants to take flight at 48 not sure I can get there but thats OK I still love this boat I just wish there was another one here to run against. So far the props that work best are X438,X440,Grim 40/52X3,X440/3 Ran it today with a X442 ran hot not sure about that one yet will try a dif strut adjustment an other day the wind picked up this afternoon and had to call it quits.

So I was also wondering if anyone has made or know where you can get a 2x 2s version of this

That was a good read. Very informative. But quick question on it. Why does it matter if the discharge plugs are plugged in 1 or 2 correctly. Doesn't it just run all the cells in series anyway?

No it has to be hooked up just I described in the thread or you will short out everything. You have to be very carefull with lipos.

So, I was looking through some of the posts and decided to add a 1/2" air dam. Now, what prop could I use outside of the one's I've mentioned so far that won't overheat the components? How about a 45mm 1.4 pitch? or a 47mm 1.4 pitch?

Or would these all only be for SAW runs and not racing?

45 and 47mm are too big for the stock components.I have had very good luck with the x442 and the Grim 40x57 3 blade.Speed on the 442 is 46mph and the 3 blade is 50mph with stock motor and esc on 4s.If you want high mph from the ul-1,50mph is about what the hull can handle with out blow overs and such.(No air dam).Join a local club and the IMPBA and go racing. Then see how fast you can go on a race set-up.If you can be at 50mph on a race set-up,then you have something. If you just want to play around and see how fast you can go,get a different hull because youll get tired of the blow overs really fast.

Thanks for the input. That does help. I'd definetly be happy with 50 I just need to hit it. I actually did race last sunday and was just a little slower than a stock UL-1 for some reason. I'll just continue playing with different setups I suppose and see what happens.

Ok, so here we go again! I finally got an opportunity to run some different setups today. So far I tried all kinds of different strut heights and marked the good one's. I was running the grim 40x52 during these tests and in the end I maxed at 45.7mph at 1 1/16th inches.
The whole day I ran with a 1/2" airdam.

Now that' speeds good but I'm still looking for that magic 50.

Im starting to think that the 40x57 grim would probably do it with the air dam and those strut settings but I STILL can't get it to put my boat on plane. All it does is drag in the water and I tried adjusting strut heights but still no good.

I'm going to upload a video of that run on youtube in a minute along with a good run.

Suggestions with why I can't get that prop to push my boat on plane? A friends in my local club has the UL-1 running stock with the larger prop and jumps right on plane.

Here is a short video of the bigger prop

Unfortunatly, my dad accidentally started zooming in and lost it for a few seconds so it is a pretty short video but you can still see what it did. This is what it did the whole run.

I will try to hand launch it next time but I was really hoping to get it to go on its own without helping it. That way I can race other UL-1s.

I always do the goose throttle with that boat and it usually works, just not with that prop.
