Hi Paul, wont be happy with speed till I smell that wonderful smell of electrical death!!

thanks for comments, but I would like just a bit more speed. THe nimh'sd I am running are 2yrs old now, so prob not at their best, 4600 9.6v x 2, I thought about lipo, but its the cost really, I am well over budget with this heavy tub, if my missus found out what paypal really was I would be in the divorce courts!

If you have any suggestions re lipo, great.
I have just been inspecting the boat, and it looks like one of the gears was slipping on the shaft, so I could have been losing a bit of speed there, next test will do a longer better video, going to try th 1.5:1 ratio, I HAVE TO KNOW what its like! !!

I am not the biggest fan of scale boats out here but I will say.
      Nice boat !!

Listen to Paul (785boats) he knows his stuff for scalers and can hold his own with the fast guys too.

      Well done.
      See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Thanks for the vote of confidence Simon. I just muddle through.

Do the batteries get warm or hot after a run? That is a lot of boat to push. If the motor & ESC aren't getting warm then they are not being worked hard. That's a good thing.
I agree You have to try the 1.5:1 ratio, but I wouldn't go up in voltage as you are already increasing the load on the motor so the current draw on the batteries is going to increase. You may need to prop down slightly first & then work your way up keeping an eye on the temps as you go.

Perhaps grinding a flat spot on the shaft where the grub screw hits, to stop the gears from slipping, might be in order.
        Cheers.
        Paul.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
