Heard the motor stutters at 7.5 degrees and doesn't like 0 degrees at all.

Aha !! I just caught this comment; I experienced "stutter" using the HK 3026 1900 on my VS-1/ Hydra 120 set to "low" timing ( 4.75 degrees ) when I propped up to an M545 to take advantage of the higher torque of the Scorp. Later that day the 120 quit ; now at CC for replacement. Hmm...
Since the Scorp with a M445 was only .5 mph better than the UL-1 motor with the same prop I put the UL-1 motor back in with the UL-1 SC and the Grim 42/55 de-tounged and mildly cupped and she picked up several mph. Jan's Scorp with the UL-1 SC and lots of prop really [UB] hauls ! I wonder what advance is built in to the UL-1 SC - Anybody ?

I just caught the tail end of a few questions here. Being my thread a long time ago, Iwill chime in. The scorpions have the same bolt pattern as say feigao, etc...540 bot pattern believe they are calling it. I run a bearing right up to the "c" clip that holds the rotor, has not had any stress on it yet. This is on my 3026 1600 which is a 6s motor. and lots of power, on this setup. I have never ran the timing lower than 7.5...it is usually between 7.5-14 I tried 24.5 and it was very hot...so I think mid timing is necessary in boat use. Talked to Ub, (jan) about his 8th scale with scorpion 4035 and that also sounds like an amazing motor for the BIG boats using 8s and up!
