I'm glad I ran across this thread. I absolutely LOVE the results we've gotten this year in Classic Thunder 1/10th scale running the HK3026-1210 in our Division 1 boats as our new spec motor for that class. Our season just ended and we couldn't be happier with their performance. Lucien has been a big help and I'm betting you'll see outrunners making even more headway into hydros. We run 4s or 14 Nimh in our boats. I was so impressed with the motor that I put an HK3026-1900 in my Division 2 boat, which allows any motor on the same battery combination as Div 1. The 1900 in my Miss Freei was a nice fit and it outperformed the Mega 22/30/2 that I had been running, the Mega 22/45/1E and other larger motors with much more hefty price tags. They seem to be much more efficient too. The 1210 was chosen in part for that reason and to trim a little off the speeds for the older style boats when we went to Lipo power. You can run two heats on a 4500 mah pack without recharging, maybe three without getting into the danger zone. In off-season testing, we tried to break the motor by running it for two 20 lap runs in a heavy boat without letting it cool down. It passed all tests with flying colors and never got over 120 degrees! I run them both on old Castle 80 speed controllers without any problem. $75 is a great price too. I could go on, but I'll stop here. I think you'll see more guys trying them.
MItch,
that's awesome!!! 20 laps at 120 degrees?!
I have been experimenting with a bigger outrunner and so far hands down
the best setup I had in my 1/8 scale... still doing some testing though.

Coug90 and ub...glad to hear you are also having good luck with these motors. I am going to use my 3026 in my new h&m ss.21 hydro on 6s. neu 1515 on 4s. I abused the scorpion in my rigger before I sold it to build this hydro, and the motor took anything I could throw at it. The temps it can run at are high, and bearings, along with windings and magnets still "hold tight".
Lucien is very easy to speak with on the phone and gives great info. He is just getting started in using these heli motors in hydros, but as for the heli crowd, the scorpions have had a strong following for years.
Coug...would love to see a pic or two of some of your hydros...and the insides.
Ever since I laid my eyes on UB's Scorpion outrunner in his 1/8 scale, {and watched it do part-throttle wheelies}, I've wanted to get one of these amazing gems to substitue for some motor[s] I'm now running. Since I'm a bit of a mental midget I can't quite figure out which Scorpion[s] would be the appropriate match. Can anyone tell me which Scorpion[s] would nicely replace, on 4S2p :
Neu 1521 1.5D ? [DF 33]
Neu 1515 1Y ? [ H&M 31" Shovel] [ 30" Vegas]
Aq UL-1 ? [ VS-1 4S1P] [ Titan 29"]
Thanks
Tony

Tony I have talked to these people and I would say just match up the KV you are using now and you should be fine
Nick, yes, one can do it based solely on the Kv, but it's safer to base yourself in other factors as well, like size of the can, max wattage, etc...
keep in mind also that Outrunners are torquier... that plays a role in it as well.
PS, Good price tha Jim has, good service as well.

That does it ! I'm ordering a 3026/1900 to try as a replacement for my UL-1 powered boats. Unfortunately , as for now, they don't fit in the spec motor category for racing , [only one spec race on my calendar next month in AZ anyway]but I just HAVE to own one of these beauties. I can just imagine how wild it would look on back of my VS-1 ! Hope immersion doesn't hurt it with some corrosion-x prep.
