    prop

    well ...
it's not installed "backwards" – as it is attached correctly to the drive-dog.
or "backwards" meaning a 'counter-clockwise rotation' prop ...

but the shape of it does appear odd ...
"negative" rake angle (??) – how would that affect performance ??

"Forward, or negative rake, helps hold the bow of the boat down."

I bet that boat is killer in reverse!

That prop looks to be for a forward facing shaft.

I commented over there that it just looks like the picture was shot looking straight at the trailing edge of the prop. \

the prop looks fine to me, I thing he may have to much positive angle and not enough strut in the water... it looks like a Ms Excess, right? she is probably sitting in the water (running wet). There is also NO room between the drive dog and the prop... friction is probably one of the bad ingredients too.
I am sure that Pat and Andy can chime in and give the owner a few good tips since they have leaps of experience with this hull.

Tug props are larger with a lot less pitch.

Looks like a typical spoon-shaped blade SAW prop to me...

Wow, lots of silly posts here! First off, putting the prop on backwards does not make the boat run backwards; the prop is clearly a normal left-handed prop. Second, it can't be installed backwards since the drive dog is engaged in the prop cutouts. Third, the prop clearly has some rake, although it appears from the photo angle to have a smaller degree of rake than some popular props do. That may just be due to the photo angle.

Poor speed could be from a large number of causes. Not enough pitch for the motor Kv; too much pitch is overloading the motor; drive dog rubbing on strut; wrong prop depth or angle; CG all wrong.....you get the point.

Looks to be a detounged X640 or X642.

I was kidding about it being killer in reverse and meant to be forward facing. Some folks are just way to serious here.

i knew when i posted this that someone would come up with a answer and i would look like an idiot but i put it up any way because every time i looked at the picture it just looked wrong. you can see that the drive dog slot is in the rite place but to me the blades just look to be around the wrong way

Hey ozzie I thought your meaning was obvious and going on the quality of some of the props that come from a certain manufacturer I would not be surprised if some do have the blades on backwards.
