    soldering melting problem

Ok so I upgraded my SV with Ammo 2300kv motor, Hydra 120, 2x 5000mah lipos ,Pather S220 prop and upgraded water cooling with new jacket and extra pick up line. Everything was running good (46mph) untill the boat stopped and found out the soldering of deans were melted and came off. The ESC and lipos were warm, the motor was little hot. I noticed the hydra wires were double the thickness of SV original series wires... could this be the problem of melting the soldering? Any suggestion? Thx

My ammo bullet connects were bigger than stock ones i think those are fine. But its not the soldering of bullets that are melting, it's the soldering of dean that came off.... Should i set the setting of power to "low" on my hydra. Right now its at "normal" would this affect the top speed alot? Im not sure what to do at this point...

Replace the deans for bullets. You are drawing more amps then the deans will take.

Deans are only good up to 60 or 80 amps. Over that, they get too hot because of the resistance and melt the solder. PROP DOWN one size and you'll probably be fine. Seen it happen many times.

Yep. Change it all. You can make adaptors for the charger if you like

I have 6mm bullets on all my stuff. Yes it's a pain to change everything over, but you'll feel much safer. Plus if you ever go for huge power in the future, you'll be all set.

As stated above, deans can only take so much. If you are using the fake china deans, they are even worse.

I need to make series adapter for 6mm set up, so just electrical tape the bullets + and - together after shrink wrap it? I liked deans cus it's already put together..

I like the 5.5's and a series hookup with bullets is very simple.

The hydra come with 10awg wires but rest of the system is 12awg including the lipo wires. Wouldn't the 12 awg wires be the weak link? what wire sizes are you guys using?

The Deans connectors should have been OK for this setup. Did you solder all the Deans connectors on all compenents including the bullet connectors with the exception of the motor and was there a possibiity of a cold solder joint?. What batteries and C spec? The prop is a bit agressive, as this hull is not really suited for over 40mph

I melted deans on a few hot 700 brushed setups back in the day

IMO deans belong in RC cars

go for the bullets and never look back
