There is a "sub" hatch that gets taped to the hull. (4 pieces of tape on a flat surface) then the cowl goes on untaped.

any good FE boat needs hatch tape on every single run. there is no sub hatch on most boats and locking cowl systems do nothing for waterproofing.

I have the mono. There is a sheet of clear lexan that gets taped to the hull to cover the opening. (it's now waterproof) then put on the cowl, and off you go.

Is radio included? How happy have you been with the V? Looks more stable, and the self rightning is always a plus. As far as the cheap parts such as rudder, drive assembly, hull, those are all built to last forever right? Props I can use standard sizes and everything...right?

Mine is great. It has an Octura X632 prop. Mine didn't come with a radio, but you can get an AM TX & RX off the swap shop real cheap. Just post a WTB thread there, and someone should have one laying around.
The hull and cowl is Fiberglass on the velocity, where as the other 2 listed are ABS plastic.
The HW on the velocity is aluminum, where as the others listed is plastic HW.

By the time I add radio and battery, we're looking at $300 bux for this boat. Quite a bit more then a Sv27, and way more then just a $100 rtr boat to mess around with. Sorry guys, velocity boats have got to go.

I have the Velocity Cat, this boat is a lot of fun. Fast enough to be exciting to drive, in a little bit of chop its a real blast. Both my teenage sons enjoy it, they worry about breaking my bigger boats but this one seems to be indestructable so far. We put in a Traxxs car radio we picked up cheap, and a cheap 1500 3s lipo. Most of the guys that see it run are thinking about one. Cheap, compact, affordable fun!

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Both the Mini C and Mini Rio are plastic toys with brushed motors and am radios. The Velocity is a self-righting fiberglass boat with a brushless motor and ESC that produces serious speeds right out of the box. It's well worth the difference in the purchase prices.
