OK first I'd like to get this thread moved to the build section as it has become more of a build thread than anything else now.

Second, I got the parts I ordered about 30 min ago and wanted to know if this setup would work well with the hull.

I now have a 6xl on an Aquacraft fully adjustable mount, 2 4600mah ni-mh 6cell batts in the sponsons, and Etti 150 opto race esc, an octura m545 prop mounted to a heavy duty sv27 upgraded flex shaft running through a strut master .21 strut, and a Hitec hs-5475HB servo operating the O.S.E. rudder. The CG has not been determined as of yet but will once the components are solidified in the hull.

In case the Etti isn't going to handle the 6xl I do have a hydra 240 available as well. I would just like to run the Etti as it is lighter.

sounds good, but you'll want a much smaller prop. try around a x637. you'll pull waaaayyyy too many amps with a 6xl and that prop, plus a prop that big on this boat will induce lots of prop walk.

Is it ok to start with either a stock BJ prop or the Octura x642???

6xl is hot, start small if you don't want to replace electronics right away

I'll start with the Octura x445and go from there.
As for the the way the boat sits in the water. Is it normal for the transom to be almost submerged in the water?

transom looks fine. sittin a little low up front though. where is your cg at? those nimh cells are a lot heavier than the lipos i stuffed in my sponsons.

That's why I stuffed them in there. I wanted to keep the weight of those monsters as close to the water as I could .
Whats the easy way of finding the cg on these hulls? Right now I'm using my fingers and guessing.

Nice clean stuffing tube installation, looking gooooood.

You really ought to go lipo with this hull. You may be ok, but will have a strong tendency to submarine. I understand if you don't have a lipo charger, but if you do then blow the $80 and be lighter, punchier and much happier.

I don't see whats wrong with using the fingers? I like to put little marks with trim tape at my end point COGs (say 1" and 1.5" behind back of sponsons). then you can see how it performs at different positions.

I am worried about your prop size, with that high rev motor on 14+ volts and an X445? I really don't like having to clean out the smell of burnt electronics. This is not unbreakable.

I have lipo's and the ICE charger but I don't have the extra batteries yet. As for the prop, It's an m545 prop but I am going to pick up the x442 prop as well.

The biggest I went on my vortex was an x640, and I started to get a little prop walk with that. a x 637 was peeeeerrrrfffeeecccttttt! high pitch, smaller diameter= fast hydro!

So I'm guessing the x442 is too big as well?
