just read maggster thread a couple down. you should do what he did. these are nice hulls and he did the best thing for the boat. that should answer all your questions. unless you keep it stock even then I think someone simply replaced solid shaft with flex and that seemed to help as well

to answer the question...the shaft may have been lubed at the factory, the proper question is how long ago was that? :) sounds like you need to pull and clean the shaft, then relube. likely you should plan on lubing the shaft before each day of running. example; I pull, clean and allow to dry all my prop shafts after each days running, then the next time I run the boat I lube and reinstall the shaft(s)Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came inComment

I have had very little luck with the SW26 and 7-cells. The boat will run 2-3mph slower on the 6-cells but at least there are no problems. On 7-cells the boat gets erratic. The ESC especially gets overheated quick. Was the output shaft of the motor too long? Because mine was binding against the output shaft. Make sure you have a little room between the thrust washer, output shaft tube and the motor/shaft coupler. Also seems that your motor is a little high in the mount. Just recheck it. I tried a Monster Pro in mine and it wouldn't even spin. I lube my shaft after every run. Actually will rust in 1 day if you don't. I have run my SW26 for about 12-15 times now and it is definitely slowing down. The 7-cells are killing the motor prematurely. I've added twin coolers for the motor so it helps a little. Shorten all wires as much as possible too. ESC still cooks though. The driveline is the weak link in these boats. Motor, ESC, shaft and strudder. I have to get my new boat up to speed then I'm going to tweak (BL) the Shockwave. I will keep you posted.Comment

Ok - Let me put my 2 cents here. I have a sw26 old version, coverted it to a surface drive. have run 6-7-8- cells in it , used the Johnson motor 63706 550ish drill motor - so I know this boat a little but the newer version is a bit different.
on your motor with the double coils - are they covering the air vent of the motor - if so , don't do that.
Now on 6 cells the boat works OK - esc and motor staying pretty cool. I can't remember which prop you are running stock or the purple miss bud but it doesn't really matter in your case with the heat, but the miss bud is faster.
So when you hook up 7 cells, motor gets real hot and so does the ESC so lets just think about that if I have it correct. Just by adding 1.2v it changes everything.that doesn't make sense does it.such a slight change. motors and esc get hot for too big of a prop, too much draw maybe because of binding but you said everything is smooth so my best guess is there is something wrong with your 7 cell pack. are the 6 and the 7 cell packs the same? If so can you make your 6 into a 7? do you know anyone who has a 7 you can borrow? have you run your shaft on a flat surface to check it - I had a bad one and didn't notice it until I did that but when a bent shaft is there - there is usually vibration.
So I think it's your batteriesComment
