I don't remember how much I spen 15 years ago with my first boats. In November of 06 I got back into FE. I toasted three 540 car motors 1 esc and 2 6 cell stick packs to the tune of about 300 bucks before I discovered the forums. I havent cooked anything since.

also..... the proboat waterproof esc is only 50 bucks and it can be run on 10 cells....... i think its also a 50 amp esc..... i have had noooo problems to date in my fun toy the hammer..... it runs on 10 cells with a titan motor.... you just have to bring it in before the boat start showing some change in speed..... last time i ran it too long and it got toooo hott60% of the time... it works every time!Comment

I realize it's the heat that is killing things......do you guys have any particular method of cooling between runs?......and how many runs do you limit yourself to?....I was told that NiMh packs shouldn't be discharged more than twice a day....Comment

from what I've seen(and done myself), usual practice is to use a computer case fan to either draw the hot air out of the hull or blow cool air in(between runs) takes about 5 minutes to cool things down. providing that you let the cells cool down before recharging, one can get a few more than that. course the cell life may sufferStill waiting for my boat to come in.it came inComment

Piranha,
can you make some pix of it inside and outside, we might be able to find a "huge" mistake?
I'm not an expert, and when I started FE boat I was guessing many thing (I'm an engineer so things are easier to understand sometimes) but still there are some basics in FE boat that are difficult to understand and that you cannot guess!Comment

I just did some mixing and matching and found out it's another receiver. So my thought is that the ESC and motor can handle 7cells but not the receiver. I would assume this wouldn't be the case hoping that the ESC's have voltage regulators so that the receiver can't be overvolted. Ugh, is THIS why you guys hate BEC's?????Comment

I took the receiver balloon off for the pics. This new pick shows upgraded twin cooling coils. COOL huh??? NOPE.....now the motor is nice and cool but the ESC and packs were screaming. So no matter what I try it's just physics. Things are going to get hot when current travels through them no matter how low the resistance is. I guess I just have to shorten my run times.Comment

DUDE! theres your problem! that Motor, Use that for your anchor! Looks like youve got a nice setup in there but those stock motors just eat esc's batterys's and your time. If you got a decent motor in there I bet your probs would end. I know agree with prev. replies that they are made to run a dozen times and sit in the attic or bottom of lake. No offense. have been there before.Comment

Na, for your style, well. I would go with like a 17 turn brushed. You can get em cheap enough and have plenty of power to prop up if needed and in my opinion not even cool it if you dont want. brushless wise I would probly go with the sv motor and you will have quite a range in power. That is a brushed esc is it not?Comment
