actually steven sells them here as well, he wouold be the most dependable one to get em from. his is a 19 turn i think but that would be even better for your application. and Ebay is always were I just reference from.

            Go for a brushless man!!!
            what size is your hull?
Get a Feigao (S, L or XL?) that Steven sell, if you're short money, get Mystery 80amp BL ESC on Ebay, that'll cost you 100 bucks total!
But you may have to get better quality pack depends of Hull/motor/prop, large hull > big motor (XL) > lot of amps > good pack!

I don't want to kill steven's business but it would be cool if he could sell those cheap ESC http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...8978&rd=1&rd=1
I have one running my 8XL great!

                ED;
Whats the key to getting that ESC to work , I picked one up for 10 bucks to tinker with , I figured I had nothing to loose at that price . The thing seems DOA, Is there a secret to the "Mystery" ????

                Thanks

                  Doby,
there are at least 3 different type of "Mystery based look like" ESC on the market and so there are 3 different way to program them!
Take a look at this thread on a french forum, everything is in there http://www.offshore-rc.com/forum/ind...418&hl=mystery
also here http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...hlight=mystery but the most difficult procedure to find is the one I found on a Portuguese forum (!!!) is :
full throttle to enter prog mode the thing will play a music and then:
                  1) - - - Brake On
                  2) -- -- -- Brake Off
                  3).- .- .- NiCd/NiMh
                  4).-- .-- .-- LiPo
                  5)..- ..- ..- Soft Startup
                  6)..-- ..-- ..-- Hard Startup
                  7)...- ...- ...- Soft Timing
                  8)...-- ...-- ...-- Hard Timing
                  9).... .... .... Reset to factory settings
pull the throttle to idle position to validate one parameter at a time
normal startup you hear a different music followed by one bip if brake's on or two if brake's off
I got the first Mystery (but doesn't have the factory stycker on it package does not correspond to description) from Ebay shop called Yoston, the second one (has Mytery stycker on it and a nice package) is from RC-Smart (compassho2005 on Ebay) but I found some manual with 2 other different brand name, they all refer to FM80A ESC!!! it seems a FM120A also exist but I haven't seen it anywhere!!!

well, the "non Mystery" Mystery (the on that has no sticker on) doesn't work with stick style radio, although the description (on Ebay) says throttle range adjustable (not true for this one), I haven't tested the "real" Mystery (the one that has the Mystery FM80A sticker on) yet, but it seem, according to other documentation that there's a lot more to progam on them, you gotta get a PiStix adapter from OSE to have it to work, I have a Multiplex MC3030 transmitter so I can program anything on it, I did have to worry then!
the non Mystery also doesn't have BEC, the real one seems to hev it and come with a Hitec battery connector that probably have to be soldered on the ESC (?!!!)... what the heck! what a mystery(ous) ESC's isn't it?

Can someone help please! Sorry not trying to hijack the thread though, but.... I bought a shockwave 26 a week ago and bought a 7 cell intellet 3600 batt to go with it at my trusty hooby shop. Ran the boat once and in about 5 min it almost stopped completely but I was able to get it to limp back to the edge of the pond. The motor was very hot so I let it sit. The next day I ran it again and after a few min it stopped and wouldn't work at all even after cooling down. So i took it back to the hobby store and got a new one today. They are cool because I bought a Villain EX from them and have had no overheating probs with the Villian running two 7 cells.

Talking with the tech at the shop who seems very knowledgeable I told him I read about these stock shockwave motors being crap so he recommended a Traxxas Titan 550 like I have in my EX but he didn't have any in stock. So I bought a 19 tun Trinity Chameleon Motor as an upgrade. Same can size so I just swapped it out as soon as I got home and reinstalled a deans plug too. Now I run the boat for about 4 min again, slow for about a min or so to break in the new motor and then progressively got faster. After about 4 min the boat starting acting up. I got it to shore and smelled heat. The motor and esc were pretty warm but ok, BUT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS SIZZLING!! I licked my finger and touched it and the wetness actually audibly sizzled! This was the first run of 4 min.!!!! Is there something wring with the driveshat setup in these boats stock? Are they not greased from factory? Please help, sorry so long.

I would say post a pic of inside the hull and your hardware to get more responses but I would assume the oil on the shaft factory puts on is just a protectant more than a lube.

You mean the driveshaft isn't lubed properly from the factory? I am very new to rc and particulary boats. The angle of the motor can be adjusted up or down about 1/4 inch I tried to adjust it so it was putting the least force on the shaft.
