Any two wires from any of the lower or upper board should be fine and make sure to install it to the same polarity, sorry for the blur pic
Where To Buy Capacitors

Actually, I am not an electronic engineer, but I think you should have one on each wire feed (top and bottom)... to keep things evened out... yes?
Any electronic engineers out there familiarized with the hydra 240?Last edited by Ub Hauled; 04-08-2009, 03:39 AM.:::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::Comment

Yes of course, but I have only one cap of that size. I'll be installing one more on the other wire. Thanks for the advice Ub HauledStiletto tunnel,EPV135 (53") twin cat, CT06"Spirit of Qatar", FD 47" mono, Twin Mini Cat 23.5"Comment

How do you go about identifying the correct capacitor for the application? Is there one "cap" that I can buy that will suffice all applications (14.8 volts and lower)? To me it looks like there are 3 main factors in the caps.
Input voltage
Microfarens or the uF number
Operating temp
The Etti unit looks very nice, but I can’t understand why a $25.00 board (plus shipping) instead of capacitors at less than $2.00 each.
Does anyone care to share?Comment

Oh no, here we go! Why is FE so expensive? For that very reason
.....and the removal of product liability from manufacturers.
There are many different circuit designs out there if you feel so inclined. Me? I can't afford to lose a motor and I'm not about to start making my own => not at 40k rpms LOL!
You are purchasing piece of mind :) and like some of us, I kinda like that. Plus, your time is worth a lot too!IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

Not going to attempt making a motor, like Ben was stating, but I think I have enough know-how to make a little cap board.

I personally talked to "Joe" from Castle at the Toledo Hobby show, and he is the one who suggested it. We discussed warrenty too. how you assemble in the capacitors on to the circut is the key.
I do as much on my own as I possibly can. Puting caps on a PCB isn't rocket sicence, until you start building circuits with resistance, switches,.... etc...Comment

I am all about learning and expanding my knowledge on the hobby. I think adding caps to a controller will help with heat and reliabilty for FE.

I found this place, but they don't seem to stock the bigger (higher capacity) caps.

I also just received 10 of these and got them in 2 days. Orderded on Monday and they were home yesterday when I got back from running my boat.

You can not just use off the shelf capacitors, as they will not last in this high frequency ripple environment, they will fail sooner...You have to use capacitors that have a very low ESR, and are designed for switching power supplies..There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!Comment

Peace of mind is not me building a cap board and maybe running a good ESC for $23. Of course, many of you have the ability...not me. I solder well but this is nothing I want to do.Comment
