Lombard. You are correct on the point of my research. It is extensive and exhaustive yet non-conclusive.
It would appear that Cats in this size are right between L and XL cans for power options as a twin setup.
The biggest stumbling block I have come across is the measurement of Cats.
Some measure to the transom rear and some to the end of the overhang ( if fitted )
The 32"E-bay cat is just under 29"on the water.
A MM is 29 on the water.
These two hulls are quite different as far as aspect ratio and under hull shape.

One thing I have found is that an XL can will beat a L can in torque and power with a minimal weight penalty.
A pair of L cans is just ok for a 29"hull and a pair of XL cans is considered by some as quite wild. Here is where I draw the conclusion that this hull sits on the border.

I can not comment on the Ammo Cans except that Scott (Ozzie-crawl) rates them well and his opinion is to be considered highly as he has the experience to back up his views.

For a E-Bay 32" Cat or a Hand crafted derivative I will go with XL cans.
    8XL's on 4S via 100A speedies, to 440 props..........Then prop up. !!

thanks simon, i do agree with you on these cats being between a l-xl a l is just not enough tho i would like to see a ul-1 motor run in one as they are a 6 pole motor so should deliver more torque. if you are going to run 2 8xls i would advise to add some carbon fibre over the tunnel and sponsons. on my single cat iam thinking of changing to a 8xl as the 7xl is a bit hot, not that the amp draw or temps are a problem just with a top speed between 55-60mph when it comes undone its taking a toll on the hull, i have it in pieces at the moment just adding carbonfibre and beefing up the drive line.

Scott, a the risk of this thread going off topic I'll say that extra carbon will not be needed when I do a Twin Cat.
I will design and build the hull to take the power that 8XL's can push.
I just need to finish and run the Rigger then it is Twin-Cat time !!!

I still need a source for a short standoff centre-mounted rudder with a push/pull servo-arm on both sides. It doesn't need to have a water-intake. About 120mm length below bracket...
Something like the MHZ one below, but smaller and cheaper.
