2.4 ghz systems are unique in that they bind to the rx and tx and no other 2.4 ghz opperating system can interfere with their unigue signal.

Yes, and I wish I had the skill to opperate a stick radio.
          Edit
A cautionary note. Futaba has the perceived best reputation for boat/water useage

Yes any 2.4 system will work for you. The futaba 6ex that I said I know it works well in boats perhaps maybe someone else know one with less channels, bu the price of the 6ex is the same as the 3pm (pistol with 3 channels)

Hey the price on that system is very fair. This has brought "the old gezzer" to a new era in radio systems now. May move all my pcms and get a couple of 2.4 stick systems with memory.

Curt, to be very honest, if you have an existing modern top of the line FM system. Stick with it, as the issue of frequency clashes will be more remote with the move to 2.4 ghz

You can buy one transmitter and several receivers and they will all work with the transmitter. There is a small step (included in the manual) to bind the receiver with the transmitter and then you will never worry again from interference. However not all the receivers are compatible with the futaba 6ex. If you go at the bottom of this page you will see the compatible receivers with the 6ex.

By the way i found another stick type the futaba 3vcs but it is way too expensive (500$) i don't know why. "Stick" to the 6ex.

Sorry Douggie, I didn't see your reply, I am very slow in typing...Just trying to provide some info no objection with you at all. Even myself I want to move to the 2.4 ghz but i am trying to find a cheap solution.
I have crashed my r/c car at 70 mph because of interference but from that time I take a very close look around

There is another 3 channel 2-stick Futaba FASST system:

Tower Hobbies carries an expansive collection of RC cars, RC airplanes, RC boats, model trains, sot cars, and supplies for all hobbyists.

Basically the 3PM in a stick stick format.

If you want to do airplanes as well the 6EX is a good alternative, but keep in mind that due to channel counts the 3 and 4 channel FASST radios are not compatible with the 6 channel and above radios.

                        Don't get me started

From AQ you mean the one at 30$ or the one at 50$?
For the one from hobbycity they say in their discussion
Mode 1 throttle on the right,
Mode 2 throttle on the left.
                          I meant this one...

I've got an M8 with Spektrum module for my cars, will this work in my boat? Its a pistol grip, don't see why it wouldn't..

It should, run some tests (on water) to make sure it does... it may have the problems that regular Spektrum radios sometimes do... no range...
I don't wanna open another debate whether they have range or not since the radio work for some people and doesn't for others... just test it.

Well if not, I have a DX3S at hand too so all should be well. That has huge range, tested on land though.
