I do also. I keep a Fluke 179 Multimeter.* BBY Lift Master RIgger * Insane Gen 2 Cat * Aeromarine Avenger Pro Twin * Delta Force Cyber Storm * Delta Force 41" Mono * H&M Viper II * H&M Intruder * OSE Raider Hydro * Whiplash 20 * Brushless Mini Rio *Comment

My measuring tools consist of:
1. A steel ruler made by Wescott either 12in or 18in, $5
2. Digital Vernier Calipers, $20-30
3. Multimeter, $25
4. Accurate scale, $15
5. Eagle Tree, $70+
6. USB Link to ESC, $20
You don't need a complex multimeter unless you're modifying motors and ESCs internally. All you need is to read DC volts and Resistance. An EagleTree is important for modifying setups, prop, motor, and Lipo changes- sensors to record amps, volts, rpm, heat, time.Mean Machine Cat: 9XL, 4S2P, CC120, M545 (50mph) -- DF22 Hydro: 8L, 3S1P/4500, CC120, x637 (49mph) -- M-1 SuperCat: 1521/1Y, 6S2P, CC240, x447 (61mph) -- SV27 Mono: stock setup, 14-cell/4200, x642 (42mph) -- Micro Scat Cat: 28-3600, 3S1P/2100, Turnigy 60, x430 (41mph)Comment

I second the Eagle Tree, one of the best tools you can have! Without the Eagle Tree its like using a blank ruler, "good guesstimate"
I use a cheap mutimeter to just check the volts on my packs during the winter storage if I don't want to use my charger to check them.
Cheers

Yes! A multimeter and duck tape. You never know when another member may get out of line.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

The Eagle Tree records what ever you want it to, volt amps rpm temp... once you get back home (or plug it to a laptop at the pond) you can download from it and get some addittional info like power, cumulative mAh, also a 2D graph where you can see all these datas.
You can also buy a LCD display that allows you to view these datas at the pond without laptop, this is really a great tool for electric models.Comment

I just got my data logger and went to hook it up and was wondering if someone might be so kind as to photograph how they have set theirs up. I am interested in capturing draw/load to help me with experiencing a little less unmagic smoke (never liked calling it magic, its very un magical - maybe if there were sparks too then maybe magical). The manual is not exactly explicit enough for me, maybe someone who has this guy figured out might post a pretty picture.
I am thinking I need a y harness to go from the ESC, to both the logger and the rx. Is this all I do? then if so, do I hook it up to Trott or RPM? I ain't measurin RPMs yet, just want draw.
