I installed the hatch bolts last night. What a pain that was! I got the esc programmed and hoping for a water test/ shake down this weekend. IMG_4361.jpg
A little update, I took the boat out for its maiden run yesterday. I was only able to get 57 mph on two separate runs, and I changed props and batteries on both runs and still 57 mph. The best way to describe the boat at full trigger was it was surging in power. I could hear the rpm's surging at full trigger. I brought the boat in after two full trigger passes and one of the two batteries (Zees 7000 120c ) puffed. I stuck another set fully charge 3s 6000mah Zees 120c, a dashaboat prop off a similar size cat, and 57 mph again. I only did one run as it was surging at full trigger again. I think the batteries don't have enough juice for this setup?
Look at the data logs from the ESC and see how many amps it was pulling. If something is wrong, the ESC may be be going into a current limiting mode. Puffing a battery on a maiden run is not good, even cheap batteries. Did you check temperatures on motor, esc, batteries, and connectors after the run?

the way a battery puffs is if you pull the voltage below 3.0v to 3.2v. try to recharge it. often the swell will go down. You NEED data logging. stop and if your ESC doesnt have it you to hyperion-world and order an Emeter2. see my thread about it.
my 41" cat pulls 5500-6000w to 57-58mph. You might be wildly underestimating what your system can do. I said in this thread earlier them batteries are good for like 150A. thats like 3000w. on a cat this size thats like 50mph (my guestimate). so 57mph and a puffed pack + LVC would make sense. you are probably pulling 4000w at least, over 200A.
yeah youre hitting LVC. prop down. your expectations for speed are too high. the SMC's will go a bit longer before they too drop below 3.2v per cell. I would still prop down at least 3-5mm total pitch.

Sounds good. I?ll prop down and see what the new batteries do and report back.
I pulled a few of these pics off the app. I?m not sure what I?m looking. But I am going to make an order tonight for some smc batteries.

Wow that voltage sag is insane! Quality LiPos will make a world of difference.
Looking forward to your experience after putting SMCs in there.
I would say in general on 6s if you are dipping below 18v under heavy load (and have quality batteries) that you need to reduce the load (reduce the prop) or work on tuning the boat to run better.

Sounds good. I am waiting for my SMC order to come in (Friday), and will report the results.
Got the smc 3s batteries with dasha prop 1715 and did 71mph. Put a 1815 I balanced and sharpened and 72 mph. Temps were 135 on motor and esc didn’t break a sweat. The boat still needs some tuning, but was too hot to hang at the lake.

nice! can try playing with lower timing see if temps come down. how long was the run when you hit 135f? I run a 1715 too and its a great prop.
