    2215 should be good for 60 mph. I run 2230 in similar size boat. Did you decide on your controller and batteries yet? What's the purpose of your build? For fun or for serious competition?

        if you choose to go with the 2215, go with the 2215/2Y (750kv), a good size prop, I think it'll be something like a X460, on a 10s2p lipo setup.
        Just my 2 cents.

              2215 2Y can do 10S 10Ah capacity 30C lipo battery. Start with Octura X455. You can also call Castle tech support and ask what they recommend for your boat.

                2230 is twice as heavy and rated for twice the power. Water cooling is not available for 2230, so I am making it myself.

                  Would 2 5s 5000mah work in sequince and should I just stick with a 2215 or is it worth it going for 2230 . I would like the speeds in the 60 to 70mph

                    you'd need to have at least 2 of those that discharge at 35C, runtimes would be much shorter then
                    if you had 4 of those in two banks of 5s 10000mAh in series.
                    People are getting n the 60's with the 1527 motor, the 2215 should be plenty, the 2230 is a LOT of power for that hull, probably too heavy as well.

                      There is a guy called Mark Ferrera, he pushed to 105mph with that motor on
                      a 45" Hydro, but that is not for long periods of time... maybe 2 or 3 passes

                          I never ran 2215, but it should be enough for 60 - 70 mph range. I went with 2230 for more headroom in case I would need more power to keep up with gasoline powered hydro's in my club. So far I am running it at 50 - 60 % power capacity of 2230 motor and keeping up with gas guys is no problem. So, for what you are doing, I do not think it's worth it going to 2230. But 2215 will have to be watercooled to handle more than it's rated 2.5 KW continuous.

                          According to latest recommendations, you should run 10S2P or at least 10Ah battery keep ripple current down, too much of which can burn up your controller. You need four 5S1P packs, connect first pair in series together, second pair in series same way as first, then two of those pairs in parallel. At that capacity, your lipos will not get too hot, and will last longer. Your run time will be about 2.2 times longer than running 5Ah capacity. I personally cannot confirm this requirement, because I myself ran 5Ah battery capacity for few months, but I did have one controller burn due to unknown reason. So, it could have been due to ripple current, or due to a defect in manufacturing, but I cannot confirm neither.

                            If you go full throttle in circles, approximately:

                            5Ah = 2 minutes
                            10Ah = 4.5 minutes

                                Just so you know Charles, Anton tried going the cheap way prior to going the correct way... it did not work.
