lots of people use the 1527/1.5Y, a LOT of power, specially with such light boat...
get the strongest ESC your money will go, the Hydra 180 HV is the minimum that
      is advisable.
10s2p with a total output mAh of 10,000 is maximum allowed by NAMBA (if you wanna race).
Stick with the good cells... Flightpower, Thunder Power, Poliquest, PolyRc, if it's too much then
try the Elite cells, they have definitely proven themselves

Some people say that the 2215 is a bit heavy for the hull, others say it's ok...
there is a debate going on whether it is too much motor and taking away from the
sportsmanship of the game... I think it's doable but it's not very fair since it turns into a
"deep pocket" race. Just so ou have an idea, the oval speed record was performed with a 1521
motor by Ken Joye... I am not sure if it still stands or not... but regardless, it was fairly recent (1 year ago or so).

it'll depend on the motor you choose, I used a 450 on my 1/8th with the 1527
and I think "Eddieh" used something a bit larger, not sure of the size.

Are you a full size Hydro Racer ?

That is awesome Charles, or should we call you "Ace"!?

Are you building a replica of your 1:1 boat or at least the paint job?

The 1/8 scale is a miss budweiser also my brother races in the same league to. But I have a couple smaller boats I'm working on as a replica of the one I race . The miss budweiser was always my favorite boat growing up. Just curious what was the record speed for the 1/8 scale. So do you think I will hit around 60mph on that setup you suggested thanks again

Sorry man, I don't think that this motor is appropriate for a hull this big, it's a 36mm can even though it's a bit longer then the average XL can.

Charles, Ken's record can be found here:

I do believe that if you have your setup right you will achieve 60+mph, there are people more experienced then I in this sport and I am sure they would agree with me, but I'll let them chime in.
BTW, the record was set a couple of years back...
