    Big oops........ Help.

Hi guys, was finishing off my HPR build, dropped a clanger..

Overtightened a 3mm hex and rounded it, turns out its a micron too deep (despite me measuring everything up with correct size washers / bolts)

Anyway theres a point on the Lehner 'Hi-Amp' fan when I rotate the shaft it catches, Any suggestions on removing this? all I need to do is loosen it half a turn...

    Big oops........ Help.

    Hi Liam

I am sent you a link to some high tensile SS bolts to use on PM.

To resolve you problem, use a Dremel to cut a slot and use a flat head screw drive to unscrew.

I agree, slot it with a dremel would be my first fix. Sometimes I've been able to get a bite using a larger standard sized allen or even a torx bit in a stripped cap screw.

Dremel is my last resort, little bit scared of getting metal filings in the motor too..

I've epoxied a Allen key in the bolt and will try in the morning..

Epoxy might not be the best...try JB Weld if the epoxy fails.

Often you can hammer a Torx driver into the hex to get one out.

It was super tight, no room to get anything at it... Anyway, got it out with a hammer and a punch, all it took was to release a tiny bit of tension and it came out.

Although I have now built it, went to setup my ESC and the speed controller decided to just smoke........

Liam, (or anyone with a similar dilemma) -

Having "been there" many times over the years (building boats & motorcycles) I've used this solution - needle nose vice-grips snuck into place & squeezed waaay tight & after a few tries to get it lined up it works most of the time. Often helps to recite obscene proverbs while applying pressure.

I see you have that one solved as I was posting this. Enjoy your new ESC [Oh wait ]

I just hate when this happens. Often times, i swap out as much bolt/screw/nut hardware with American made synonymous hardware. It has helped A LOT.
