no thrust washers needed. if the drive dog touches the thrust washer , you know the dog is too close to the strut. the normal spacing without a washer is the diameter of the shaft ie; 3/16 inch shaft = 3/16 gap between these both surfaces. any contact only causes drag and over heating of electronics.

this can depend on flex shaft length and prop load.
The gap can be played with if one cares to and pays attention. Do I? Umm,

Thanks guys. I prefer to run one and account for it when setting gap. Would rather wear out the washer than the dog or strut. Was just thinking two would cut down on friction encase it does draw in too tight.

yes i suppose by having this bearing thrust washer at the strut end , it would stop the flexable shaft from coiling up in tension thus giving less drag to the shaft.
