That is 65 amps per connector. So right at the max per battery

If the connectors are getting hot it is because your set up is pull more amps than the connectors or wires are design to handle. Your wires and connectors will be cooler with good solder joints, connectors capable of handling the current your setup is pull, and the right gauge wire.

The leopard 4074 2200 with the m445, x642 will have that gieco moving. I have seen that kind of setup push the volume1 probaot mystic into the low 50's on GPS.

You said it yourself, you are "right at max". IMO, you should never push your system to it's limits although it's capable, I don't recommend pushing your system to it's limits. You can do it for one or two short runs like in saw/straight runs but not for running oval racing or sport running. You are taking a chance for something or everything to fail. Even if it doesn't fail immediately, running everything to it's limits continuously will shorten the life of your system which eventually will fail at some point in time. Then you would have just wasted your hard earned money on your new motor, esc or even worse lose or damage your boat. The connectors are one of the least expensive part in your system, yet, its role is one of the most vital and integral part in your whole system. I would suggest getting the appropriate connectors along with your new motor and esc because your gear will thank you in terms of longevity and more efficiency in you system. . . . as they say "better safe than sorry"

Be smart, stay safe! De-rate everything. Always leave at least 20% safety margins to stated max ratings. I can think of nothing more disheartening than seeing all my effort just go up in flames in the middle of the lake!
