It is very interesting to note that newbies only enter their problems after a failure of expensive equipment.
It is so important to list your proposed equipment, prior to installation with all pertinent information and ASK for opinions!!
A Douggie rant, as I hate to see people leave the hobby because they did not understand the dynamics of FE boat racing......no we are not the same as FE car racing.

Notice to all! Contact Doug before you install anything! Get a second opinion!

Just kidding, you do have a very valid point though. I hate to see it too, but what can you do, most of the time, we're dealing with the "male" psyche and we inherently say to ourselves "I know what I'm doing..."

        ...then

the Aquacraft can handle up to 18v, not that you should but it could.
BUT it's only 45 amps like it was stated many times above...
it's a miracle to me that it ran as long as it did... the boat probably never went up to plane properly did it? If you are running anything other then the stock aquacraft motor, you'll need a way more powerful ESC... maybe you can tell us what you are planning in running (or are running) and then suggestions can be made and examples can be shown so you'll have a solid running boat in no time.

Is it any way I can check the motor to see if it's "fried"

Honestly, I think there is a decent chance that the ESC acted as a safety fuse and the motor is likely just fine... If it doesn't stink from the windings burning, and never really got over 150-degrees or so, then it's likely just fine...

I don't know of any good way to find out, asside from inspection, and testing it...

I have a hacker 6s that I overheated once and it took the abuse without any noticeable damage...
still performs like it did before, so yes (like Darin), there is a chance that it can survive... it'll depend on how well it was assembled and how hot it actually got.
