am i correct to say the pursuit hull has no latching system?? you have to tape this cover every time .

It is very wise to tape every electric boat before every run unless you are 100% certain a hatch lock system is waterproof. Waterproof claims are usually at least slightly exaggerated.

I've driven pursuits, Cyberstorm (very similar to pursuit) and love them. Sorry never had a rtr except a Geico.

I plus one to the upgraded Pursuit. Solid, reliable and with props you can control speed and run time.

        Tape is you friend.

Impulse can still be had but its been discontinued. As mention above, it's not on par with a Pursuit in my opinion. There are guys that can get it there but not many choose it to race with.

i wont be racing ,just running around on the river or the big lake come spring . on the ose pursuit i see no latching system at all .so its a tape it every time kinda thing . that kinda turns me off .
the tfl pursuit looks to have a screw on the hatch ,is that to secure the hatch?? but i seen video of the tfl pursuit and it looks slow . a slow boat gets boring fast . i already want more speed from my recoil 26.

i see the pursuit has adjustable trim tabs which is nice .the impulse does not .

the pursuit has a better looking adjustable prop strut , but the proboat has a water seal latching cover system .

hard decisions here for me . at least its narrowed down to these 2 . does the ose pursuit ever go on sale? gotta cost a good buck to ship to eh?

The Impulse 31 has pins in the front and a lock latch in the back. You can also add the inner cover from the Impulse 31 V2 that help keeps water out. I never tape my hatch but I did strengthen my boat up by pulling the pins from the hatch and mounting them into the deck. My boat doesn't get water inside from the hatch at all. I have zero patience for putting on and pulling off tape all the time. One of the reasons I went with the Impulse.

i`m with ya there . i just found a coupon for horizon hobby that gets me the impulse for 386.00 shipped free . with the spektrum system . i already have a dx4c so i could sell off the new dx2e making the boat a even better value . and here i thought i was sold on a pursuit .the impulse is looking better and better to me .

whats with the big hole around the prop shaft opening ? someone said its a wet hull system and it aids in moving the prop up and down . ?whats with that?

It is called a flooded stuffing tube and it allows for more strut adjustment, so yes more prop up and down movement. I went through the same thing deciding between Revolt 30, Pursuit or Impulse 31. This was the first rc boat I ever bought. I am happy with my decision, but any boat you buy that is RTR I would advise to strengthen the hull especially if you want to push the limits. The forum is great a lot of info and one poor member (kfxguy ) has been a great help. My impulse is moving fast enough now to make my lake seem too small. It is a great boat that has really nice potential.

leaning more and more towards a proboat impulse 31 v3

almost bought a voracity but after reading about broken transom's,weak hulls, split seems , i backed out . seems to be a problematic hull . what you think?

I flipped my Voracity a number of times, blowing over at full speed while tweaking the setup. I've had none of the side seam or transom cracking issues that the early hulls were experiencing. I believe those weaknesses were addressed at the factory with a revised hull. The floor of the hull is relatively thin, and just the little bit of fiberglass cloth I added to my first hull helped firm that up. Otherwise, I can see the weight of batteries and general use cause typical spider cracks in the gel coat. I plan to add some reinforcement to the floor of my new hull as well.

The brand new Voracity for sale in the classifieds is a great deal. I'm happy with mine.

yeah thats the one i almost bought ,just scared to pull the trigger now .being new to boats i dont want to buy into a problematic design . i was reading posts as near as august where guys were still having issues .

havent heard any talk like that about the impulse .

I think there are a few things to consider with the Voracity and here on OSE:
Many members will get a new boat and commence trying to make it go as fast as possible which inevitably will lead to blow overs and damage. I think that is true with most hulls(not all but most)the next step is then reinforcing the weak areas that they find.
Funny thing is it helps the overall rc boat community because designers like (Rafael from Proboat) participates on the forums and gets valuable, real world testing/feedback after they release a new model.

I can say that my Voracity and Zelos are both very well built and stout boats from the factory compared to some of my other RTR boats from only a few years ago.

Having had a decent amount of RTR boats, if they are used as intended ie sport running, reasonable speeds, they don't flip over and don't get damaged.
For example, I have a Lucas Oil cat that is all stock and has an upgraded prop. It runs low-mid 40s and I've never had a blowover, boat is near perfect shape after 3 years or so. Contrast that with my Motley Crew(same boat, diff graphics) that boat is my war wagon and I've tried different props, motros, etc and it has blown over many times and the hull/gelcoat has cracks, chips etc.

I'm enjoying your research and think you will enjoy any boat that you pick, read the threads for that specific boat, there is a ton of helpful info here on OSE. If you're going to be running on the "big lake" you mentioned, the larger 36" Voracity will handle bigger chop better than a 30-31" boat.
If your primary water is calmer, than the smaller hulls will be fine.

glad your enjoying my research ,i tend to over research everything .i was just reading the voracity thread again to make sure i seen a post in august of this year and i was correct . that said i think i will pass on the voracity even though i could have had one at a good price .
i am new to boats so my decision shouldnt sway a more experienced rc boater with the means and expertise to strengthen and rework a voracity if need be .even though the boat is new i would be a second hand buyer without a purchase verification and if a problem arose i doubt i could get a warranty claim .
that said i do believe i will be buying a impulse v3 here very soon .
i will be running on the river until it gets too crowded come spring then may have to find a spot on the big lake . i can grab a bigger boat at that time if need be .

i been thru most everything rc now
                                couple planes
                                a dozen quadcopters
                                a dozen helis(still not a good heli pilot..lol)
                                cars/trucks
now boats . i guess i feel the need to try everything .

heres where i am running right now
