28" Poseidon rigger - bad choice?

Looking to get into a fiberglass rigger under 30" and stumbled upon the poseidon 28. Anyone have any experience with these? I like the fact that its basically artr. I have some electrics I can toss in and go have fun (hopefully ) unless someone thinks otherwise of this boat? I realize its not as nice as other hull's out there but for the price point and being my first rigger I'm hoping it would be a decent purchase. I looked into wood kits, but the looks of this boat really appeal to me. Planned on a 2s or 3s setup. Any suggestions are appreciated thanks

Edit: I was wrong I thought that it said 840mm long it is actually 740!

So it says on the website it is available now and he hasn't even run one? Big red flag for me!

The weak points of those boats are:
The way the spar inserts are glued into the sponsons.
The turn fin & turn fin mounting point.
              The rudder mounting point.

Boat runs great once it is strengthened a bit.
There are still a couple of the 33" versions running around at our club. They do all right.

The boat from the R/C build has the same problem with the spar inserst in the sponsons. They just pull out. Well mine did.

Have a read of this. It might help in your decision.

Thanks, lots of good info in there. I figured it was probably a pretty light layup and would need a little attention. Sounds like its pretty decent after a little strengthening. The boat from thebuildrc.com that Ray sent the link for is starting to grow on me. Does anyone know anything about that one? Would that be a better option than the poseidon? I will mostly run the rigger on an oval course, but will have another motor I can throw in for some SAW runs too.

I Pm'd "Sweet Accord" from here to see what he thought about his Poseidon since I noticed in his signature he has one, but he said he has not ran it yet so probably kind of hard for him to give me an opinion about it Lol

Well I just ordered a 28 Poseidon. Not sure on power yet until I get it and see how much room I have to work with. I have a 3660 3800kv from one of my 1/10 buggies I may try with a 3s pack. Not sure on prop size so open to suggestions there. The boat comes with a plastic 38mm 1.4 pitch. I'll get a prop from Chris once I figure out what works well on it. Appreciate any feedback thanks

Post office dropped this off last night. It has a 380 motor mount which I never realized. Trying to decide if I should rip it out for a 540 mount. I was hoping to put a 3660 in it, but looks like I may be opting for a 28 can if I don't feel like tearing it apart right away. Quality appears pretty good. Has a 2 piece flex which needs to go. This will be slow project since it's 5* F here and won't have any open water for a few months.

Dang. Wish I would have seen this earlier. I could have made you a nice deal on a brand new etti demon carbon sponson rigger with almost everything you need. I was lagging on the forum for a while. Let us know how this one performs

Btw, just get one of the longer 28mm tp motors. They are pretty stout. They aren't 36mm can stout but they aren't weak by any means.
