    retrieval system

looking to run my gas rigger and 37" fightercat daytona on the connecticut river. the fightercat has a leopard 4082. need a way to retrieve my boats without dragging full size jon boat etc. saw the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVPjuybDGZI and was interested in using the proboat 26 self-righting recoil for obvious reasons. i figure if the proboat fails, i can use the daytona to retrieve it. any better choices for what i need? my gas rigger is very valuable to me. don't want to lose it in the river. thanks

Personally I wouldn't and haven't run in the rivers near me without being in a full size boat, but I don't know your river. I've run on canals with my usual tennis ball on fishing rod, the uniform narrow width, easy access to secure banks and low current makes it very safe compared to the rivers around here.

On the plus side, running a boat all around you whilst in a boat is a lot of fun, and there are holes in the water in rivers that you just don't get in lakes for another element of challenge.

Like Paul mentioned I don't know about the "river" you will be running in, but if the current isn't too quick you could rig up one of these with some PVC pipe...

Heck, I might build one just because.

would you be able to use it at 150 yards out?

Tug boat, or no Tug boat 150 yards is a long way for any RC boat. At that point the only thing you will see is a roostertail even when the boat is running.

But there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

could you line up the tug and push the dead boat back at 100 yds? thats why i am using tow the string around it method, so i satand a better chance.

How does the system used in the vid work on a flipped boat where their is not much for the line to catch on for most boats.

You can use pretty much any boat you want. I would make up an H style set up out of PVC pipe and fun noodles I made this one for $8 dollars. Oh and my wife picked the color of the fun noodle not me I wanted yellow. I also use an Atlantic Tug boat as a recovery boat.

I have used that style recovery also with the Tug. When the boat is flipped it is harder and you try to catch the antenna tub or Hatch latch if your boat has one. Fun noodle set up is easiest and you can make it smaller or larger.

Simple, heat up with a hot air gun and the pvc becomes very pliable, shape it the way you want and let it cool. That whole set up will set you back about 7 bucks and that includes the fun noodle. Rescued several peoples boat with this set up and it works like a charm.

It is one 10ft piece, and 2 Tee's and 4 end caps. Usually any pool place has them, they just shove them in the back instead of keeping them out on the floor this time of year. Cut the 10ft piece in half make two half circle bends the size you want. After they cool bend the ends up slightly by reheating the pvc, this rise helps keep the disabled boat captured inside the U shape. The extra little pieces you have left over from trimming down the size are used to connect the two Tee's. Glue together put on fun noodle then the end caps last and your done. Takes about 40mins total.

How do you attach it to the tug, is it just a tight fit onto the tugs hull.
