Stress cracks don't just appear by crashing or flipping the boat, most rtr hulls are made from to thin glass cloth & inferior vinylester or polyester resin. Better quality hulls are made using epoxy resin, just the vibration of everything going through the hull & pounding on the water will cause stress cracking quite a lot on rtr hulls.

The Voracity is known to crack or split on the transom area & deck join, a guy over at RC Groups had his split in these areas & was given a replacement hull. That one split as well, I have read of others splitting as well on the transom area & also stress cracks under the battery trays area of the hull.Comment

Yes its better to do an over lay when the boat is new or newish to help stop cracking as much as possible. Rather than wait until a hull cracks & then do an over lay.Comment
