Stress cracks don't just appear by crashing or flipping the boat, most rtr hulls are made from to thin glass cloth & inferior vinylester or polyester resin. Better quality hulls are made using epoxy resin, just the vibration of everything going through the hull & pounding on the water will cause stress cracking quite a lot on rtr hulls.

The Voracity is known to crack or split on the transom area & deck join, a guy over at RC Groups had his split in these areas & was given a replacement hull. That one split as well, I have read of others splitting as well on the transom area & also stress cracks under the battery trays area of the hull.

Thanks for the info. I want to reinforce the hull (transom and back/sides) over the winter with some cf and good resin.

Yeah it seems like the transom is one of the weak spots on this hull. Most of the guys that crack the transom have hit something though (from the reading I've done). Even with
the newer reinforcement they added I still plan on reinforcing it with cf and resin.

Yes its better to do an over lay when the boat is new or newish to help stop cracking as much as possible. Rather than wait until a hull cracks & then do an over lay.

I can understand, but this is my first RC boat and I wanted to make sure I like the hobby before I did any 'mods' to it. So far it's been a lot of fun though :)

I'm itching to build a hull from scratch.. was looking at the Delta Force 35" Pirate as my possible first real build.

Vibration from the motor & flex/prop & pounding on the water puts an awful lot of stress on the hull, even without crashes. Even high speed turns & spins stress thin flexi hulls.

Martin is absolutely right even saw bulletproof boats present cracks after hard runs...water can be bad on our models so just enjoy your boat!
