    Strut for a catamaran ?

Hi all considering building a catamaran .Do i use flat bottom hydro strut or round bottom mono strut ? The hull will be 29'' in length i have a Speedmaster .21 hydro flat bottom strut sitting on the shelf. Would that work? Regards Andris Golts.

I have run a few cats over the years mostly gas power, and if you are going to run any high speeds you will want a skegged strut to stop the prop walk....

I run a round bottom in a 32" fightercat and it works great does 70-75mph on 6s. No skeg on the strut and no prop walk but it doesnt turn very well more of a straight line boat. Using a m445. Im sure the flat bottom will work though. I thought flat bottoms were for more transom lift like on hydro and riggers but I could be wrong

I have a Cheetah running 6S and a modified X452, it has a flat bottom strut that works just fine. It will also turn at WOT.

Start with what you have and if you have any issues you can go to a Speedmaster skeg strut at a later date. Since they are both the same manufacturer its an easy swap out to this: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...os-spds-017-SK
