Titan 40 with twin proboat outboards

Titan 40 with Twin proboat stiletto outboard. 2 x 180 amp Hobbywing ESC's 2x 3630 1500kv motors. Going to run on 2x6s. Build is coming along nicely. Any suggestions? Never run outboards before!

Outboards: I have had good luck placing the prop shaft at or just above the bottom of the hull.
      Not sure where yours are.
I'd make sure you have enough up adjustment to raise them up to that point.

Twins: I have found they need to be higher than single drive.

I'm right at the bottom of the transom with room to adjust deeper if I need to. Todays problem was CG! with twin outboards and the esc's in the rear my dual 6s packs had to be placed up under the front deck which is going to make straping in the packs a pain in the a__. Question ??? pros and cons to having to use lead extensions off the packs to reach the esc's?? If its a absolute no no then ill have to justs fudge a little on the cg.

Extending the battery leads is a very bad idea, it is one route to damaging the ESCs with large ripple currents. If you need to move the CG forward, extend the motor leads. I have done this on two boats and it has worked very well. I am not turning 40,000 rpm but for normal use you would be fine.

As far as ESC temps, anything under 130*F should be okay as long as you measure the temps immediately after stopping the boat. ESCs can cool off pretty fast, especially in cooler weather. Sure 110*F is better, but that hard to maintain in the Summer.

I see one potential big problem....how are you going to waterproof the steering rod? That is a large entry point for water.

Scrapping this boat and starting over with a larger hull thinking of a 44 hurricane. The Titan 33 is just too small for dual outboards. Anyone think a 44 hurricane is too big for dual 3630 1500 kv outboards with 180 amp esc I'm running 40mm 3 blades 1.4 pitch. Spinning outward.

So they are running in opposite directions...did you get one flex cable with the opposite windings?

The Hurricane is a MUCH larger boat, twin 40mm props may (will) not be enough to get it moving well. They would be great at making lots of noise and foam, not so good at pushing. Any way to run larger props? Maybe not a good idea, even twin 36mm motors are low in the power department for the big heavy Hurricane.

Those OB units were designed for a specific size hull as a single, finding the right hull for twins may be tough. The biggest issue will be finding a hull with a tall transom so the props run in a surfacing condition. If you insist on using those OB units as twins, the Titan may still be your best option. You may need ballast to get the CG right.
