My understanding too. The mono is extremely nice to look at but with multiple steps it will only be legal for offshore. Great for sporties though. Racers are a tiny percentage of the market. We've all talked about that before. It would be cool is someone finally designed a stepped model that could turn at speed. I'm not sure how the real boats fair in that regard.

I tried to get Mike to seek out a known racer to back up his design but I think it just annoyed him. John Q Public doesn't give a rip about that kind of thing. The sales are proof. To convince the race monkey nut jobs like some of us are it will take some sort of respectable racer endorsement.

These should start showing up on ponds now that summer is approaching. We'll know soon enough. By no stretch am I the lion king but I'll at least let you guys know what I see. My initial reaction is that it's a solid design with quality assembly.

They're ProMarine products. Whether or not he has these made by TFL is really irrelevant. Every "brand" of product should speak for itself in the marketplace.
You could say that my wife's Town and Country minivan is a Daimler product, so it must be the same quality as a Top-level Mercedes Daimler product. Trust me, it's no Mercedes.

There are actually very few large manufacturers that make only a single brand and a single quality of product these days. You could fill this forum with examples of products that are commissioned to be made in the same facility, by the same manufacturer, yet provide different levels of quality and different price points.

Okay, saw it raced. My opinion hasn't changed a bit. Tons of potential. Needs a little love on the bottom.

We had two Skaters in our mix yesterday. One has had almost no pond time leading in so stands to reason that it still needs some tweaking.

The second is quite fast but was driven by a rooky that was a bit timid/cautious. It was literally his first race. I did get to watch it run a bit though. It was just as fast as anything we had on the pond. It even blew off the water at one point so he's clearly pretty close to the ragged edge with it. Few more tweaks. A strut or CG adjustment. A bit more sanding/filling maybe. Then some more experience in traffic and I think this particular boat could be a winner. He's really close with the setup IMO.

Honestly, the fact that this new guy is out racing with it at his very first race and it's competitive is a proof of concept in and of itself. He bought it, threw a 2030 in it, and played with it locally to get it dialed in. Then his very first race and nobody is light speed faster. SWEET!

I don't think any of you would be disappointed with it if you decided to get one. Heck, after watching it run........ I wanted one myself. I'll bug Kevin to let me drive his some time soon. I'd like to dry rubbing it against some pins myself.

Me too. I've got a Boyscout camp out with Ty this weekend. 2 deep leadership. I'm number 2. I wont be out to the pond until next Wed myself.

Kevin, your boat runs just like it should. Within a tic or two. Maybe a 1/2" movement on the batteries when it's windy and it will be dead on. You're really close. Tiny adjustments at this point IMO.

We need to take a look at Dan's and see what he's doing different. His wasn't as solid. If all the boats are fast it's more fun. Makes everyone better. Plus, we can't let Tom win every heat.

Wilmer was given one and raced in P Open offshore Sprint. It was fast and handled well for the first time out.
