Ray, I think that's an impaling not a cut in half........ing. That was painful to watch and painful to retrieve sir. Can't believe you put it back together.
I was trying to write that if it wasn't for the inlay it had, the hull would be 2 pieces. It didn't come out that way I think.
TFL make decent hulls but, I really like the MTI hull much more for looks alone. I commend the guy on all his hard work. I couldn't do that.
Doby,. Are you saying the others are any better? Most were nothing more than a way to lose FE beginners.
Come on...this post went so off base it is crazy. 90%... then Yes, I would put it there as the person that got pre-production samples is pretty sharp on hull quality.
Spartan, UL, minimono and on and on...if it were not for my Spartan drives to fix their crap people would have not been able to run their boats for months for all the back orders on the drives and then they send them the same crap!!...just as one example. Look at all the other dealers with the fix it parts because the poor quality. Who do we want to pick on because I can name plenty. OSE went as far as to design a new drive for the dang thing.
I finally get my hobby shop to carry boats to keep interest in boating here but he only sells the ones I build gear for..guess what...happy kids and dads and the sport moves forward.
How about this...can't be any worse than the crap put out by the others. Maybe that is better.Time will tell I guess.
Let's put this one in RTR category where it belongs and see how it compares shortly.
At nearly twice the cost, it should be better!!! Jeff, your dealing with two different price points. It not fair to compare to the offerings from Proboat and Aquacraft in the $300 range.
I am with Terry, I want to see it run in traffic and see how well it turns
I was happy with our performance. No records set. Didn't have the motors that were needed. As our website and Facebook said. We learned a lot. The esc's were punished with zero failures. Motors punished, no failures. We did des older a bullet. Boats punished no failures. All in all a great weekend. Met some great people. We will be better prepared next time.
Thanks.
Yes but how many of those boats ended up running off the newbies and beginners? Many of us are seasoned parts breakers because we push more than the limits. Hell most of those boats I listed have been sold 10 times on ebay since they came out. I totally agree with some of these posts, don't get me wrong.
I have been a member of this since Steven started it and many of us came over from Rumrunner so I have seen many years of this stuff.
I agree. This guy has done much more than most are willing to do to make this happen, yet critique of what he isn't doing seems to be the focal point for a few.
I'm going to get one. First, I think they're great looking, and something different than what is already out there. I like the bottom design in comparison to other RTR boats, and I think I can get one to run pretty well. Second, I am happy to have the opportunity to support someone out there that is making new models available to us. It's crazy to me how many people in this hobby have such an unwelcoming attitude toward vendors bringing them new products. This guy put a bunch of his own money into developing this boat (I'm assuming), and brought in people like Steve Miles to do the graphic design. Up until now, 99% of people couldn't afford SMD artwork on a boat, but now they have a chance to own one. He added another choice to the FE RTR market. It is indeed a CHOICE. You don't have to buy the boat, but it's an option that you didn't have before. The more people we have contributing to this hobby, the more we all benefit.
For those who say "you should put one of these in my hands"...man up and buy one if you want one. Begging for free product is very unbecoming.

I applaud you guys for wading in, frankly! The boat looks really nice and the graphics and design are great.
As for the SAW speeds... I think most have a real misconception as to just how hard it is to REALLY make a boat go 70+... for more than a blip on their onboard GPS. Just bringing yours home in one-piece at the speeds you did achieve is an accomplishment.
And, believe me... I KNOW how hard these guys here can be on RTRs... My advice to you: Press forward, filter out the noise, and let your product speak for itself. And, frankly, just be honest. If the product works, it will be successful. The market is REALLY small for RC Boats (like less that 10% of the overall hobby)... there is certainly room for more quality RTRs!
Don't get discouraged by forum noise...

The boats are very nice and clearly a welcome addition to the mix. Brought to market with some good old American Enthusiasm. That they were taken to the time trial "proving ground" shows that the producer was willing to step up and show some reality stones rather than just jaw flapping. Kudos for that. Will they succeed on the oval or in the lights, maybe. Time will tell if they fare well against the hard core dedicated raceboats. If not, simply some tasty alternatives to the hi-po sportboat field.

Well, it's 29 degrees here today so I wont be heat racing anything until spring. I've got 3 wood builds scheduled for the winter so it will have to come after that. Unless Wilmer is truly involved. Then I wont bother. We do have one club member (as far as I know that is) in line for one. Not sure if he actually pushed the button yet though.
I can't speak for all clubs but MMEU hasn't lost anyone due to the quality of AQ and PB offerings. The Traxxas boat was a disaster. Yuck. I would credit PB and AQ for MMEU having any racing at all. For our club it's poor driving and our failure to hold ourselves accountable for it that have caused us to lose more people than anything. We're working on that as a club though. We get some pretty reputable racers for our Cup races most years too. P limited offshore was won this summer by a Revolt right out of the box. Strut adjustment, a sharp balanced prop, and some average batteries.
This new boat is in a weird place. It comes with more power than the Geico and the Lucas. Not quite "limited" as we know it but also not quite enough motor to hang with full P cats. Not that there are many of them to even race with.
As Mike mentioned it's also nowhere near the same price point so the quality should be better. Haven't seen one up close but just from the pics that appears to be the case. I use some of the same parts that this comes with on my own boats.
It may be the bravado early on that didn't set well.
Feel like I need to defend myself here. I said in post #1 "Nice looking boats. Who has tested them? Just the manufacturer thus far?"
I thought maybe they were already out there and someone I knew had run one besides the designer. I don't know Mike. No offense to him. He races real boats. Got it. Some guys race real cars. Does that make them expert RC car guys? They both have wheels. I also don't know the guys he's racing against either. Beating a Geico that's $200+ cheaper and setup who knows how isn't necessarily a proof of concept. It may well be that the Admiral gang is really fast. I just don't know though. That's all I was getting at from the beginning.
Nowhere did I ask for one for free. Although, one without all the pieces I'll pitch would be nice. $125 wasted dollars. It's like a luxury tax.
I believe that most on this forum are all in favour of a new quality hull entry in our hobby and this hull shows real promise. But and it is a big BUT on my part, would the owner/designer of this boat please show less attitude and a little bit more decorum in introducing this product. I can understand his enthusiasm and eagerness to bring this product to market but tone it down a bit and supply more info on your website. I wish him all the very best with the launch of his business.
