Water Jacket help

Guys does anyone know if the Neu 1515 and 1521 water jackets have a different internal diameter? I bought a 1515 jacket to fit on my 1521 and I can't get it on the motor. I have installed many of these jackets in the past without a problem.

yeh they change.. and they wont fit so dont bother LOL
Neu i find uses a miss match of everything to get there motors together..... they use i guess what come first. I have some motors with 540 bolt patterns and some with out. some have bolted cases and some dont. some have flat spots on the shaft, and some dont.

I took the orings off the jacket and the jacket fits over the motor without a problem BUT with the orings in it is imposible to get the jacket on. I am at a loss right now, The boat is ready to go in the water tomorrow and I have no water cooling. I may take a trip to the local hardware store and see if they have thinner orings. The only other thing I can do it find someone that will machine the groove a little deeper but I don't I will find someone willing to do that.

run it with a small prop and don't bother cooling.

Dumb question, but did you put machine oil on the motor can?

I tried oil, and every other substance I had laying around. I never had a jacket that didn't fit, some were tight but they all went on.

Ray, the 1515 jacket will not fit the 1521. The 1521 has a larger diameter. Even though Neu spec. give the same diameter they are not. When I first started making them for Steve we found this to be the case. FYI: the 1512 and 1515 are the same diameter and the 1521 and 1527 are the same diameter. Hope this helps.

I hope you didn't try wd-40. With some o-rings this can actually increase their diameter.

(i use this technique to seal bolts better in the chambers of paintball guns)

Rubbing alcohal works verygood plus it evaporates.
