Glad you made the right decision. No boat is ever worth risking your life for. Also super happy to hear you actually got her back as well. :)

Just something to consider, whenever you do venture out onto the water to retrieve a boat, you should wear a lifejacket!

I have Kayaks available at a moment notice, I usually just jump in with my life jacket though....
I forgot the life jacket one day.... I was very close, could barely get on the dock. That will not happen again.

If I am going to "go out" it will be a better reason than an RC boat.

          Glad your still around!
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

I use a HO boat ski tube . It's perfect ! Lo pro and wide , very safe with or without a jacket.

The thing is you need to ask yourself if your prepared to save your boat in the middle of the lake ahead of time. You need to be ready in a few seconds of the crash. I have dumped out ice chests and floated with those too. What's nice about the tube I use you don't get completly wet . If your a person who may not swim at all or have health condition I would recommend a life vest fore sure ! The last thing you need to do is be struggling in the water because a stroke or heart attack will not be good. If your not prepared to save your boat then be prepared to loose it . If I was Jason and had my tube and paddle I would not hesitate to rescue a $2500 boat, for myself or a friend with my setup . I raft the Kern River with it too lol with a life jacket lol

              Yes sir Randy,

If you truly cant swim, I don't even recommend going after it with a life jacket, as those can sometimes make for a struggle also... def should always have a life jacket, but if you're not a swimmer, then def don't go after your boat life jacket or not....

And Randy they'd find me on that dang tube out in the middle of the Atlantic on the night this all happened lol, I couldn't believe how strong the current was, and only noticed when I tried going against it.... that's the scary part, had I kept going before I turned around the outcome might have been much worse.... as soon as I turned around and looked back and felt the water pulling me I knew... ummmmm this might not be the smartest thing I have ever done. BTW I took some pictures last night of the Bay, and my boat... I will post up so all can see what the outcome was....... I spent the night following the excursion uninstalling and reinstalling the motors/escs/ etc, and polishing the boat as well... polished it so I could truly see if there was any damage I was missing, and thankfully other then a couple chips in the gelcoat here and there less then a mm wide and a few mm long, and a mm or 2 off each sponson tip.... pretty darn luck I am...

Sounds like you could have used a large lighted balloon to locate at night.
