I bought a two man raft that was cloth rapped and had a foam insert for the floor. Couple simple oars came with it. Worth every penny.
You all saved my life :) DONT SWIM after your boat.

You made the right choice and in the end the big man let you find her and keep yourself safe. I am interested in your seeing oring for the hatch, I would like to maybe do that myself as I have one of these hatch systems coming. Im a saltwater boater and like to keep things dry as possible.
I have a small bay by me but will only boat the incoming tide so if stuff happens you have a better chance of getting it back. Don't mean to sound like Monday morning Quarter back.
Would hate to lose a nice german rig like that or anything for that matter. This would make for a good article how doing the right things works out at the end and reminds me of a saying, good things happen to good people .Last edited by spectre; 04-15-2015, 10:49 AM.Comment

I have two kayaks luck.....but they're in my storage unit, and there was no time for going to get it.... I should have had it with me yes but I was taking it easy and being stupid not having a retrieval device... Lesson learned
A couple people last year were dragged out to see and passed here in Maine on kayaks last year also... When the tide turns it's a lot stronger then we often realize...amazing actually, guess I will be doing tide coming in only from now on, and making sure the retrieval kayak or raft is with me as well... Honestly if it was one of my other boats it wouldn't be near as much if an issue, it was my MHz and it was running beautiful!!!! UghLast edited by JMSCARD; 04-15-2015, 10:54 AM.Comment

She is a truly unbelievable person, and great companion... She is one of a kind for sure. She always says when I run any of my models the smile on my face far outweighs her having to wait for me to go through a couple battery packs :)Comment

Travis I got your PM on the props too... Actually you pmd me when I was watching the boat head out to sea lol... And now I went through two sets of brand new C/R props in two days... Bent the abc's and the x447's were trashed during sitting in the rocks as the motors were spitting and sputtering must be.. The packs still were at 4.0v per cell so they couldn't have been running much but made a mess of my props... Small price to pay! It's headed to the paint shop now for sure too lolComment

Very nice to hear it all worked out for you...
You were very smart to reconsider and turn back...most people forget that the objects distance is really half the distance you need to swim...it's when they turn to swim back that the difficulty begins and progressively gets worse...couple that with open ocean currents and not knowing how to "go with it"... or the fear of letting yourself drift farther from shore... starts the process of the silent struggle to breathe as you try to fight the current ... as the current WILL ALWAYS WIN...and the ocean quietly swallows you... if you are not able to relax and let it take you out (away from shore)...
Unless you have been in that predicament (I have), I can't tell you how hard it is to fight the (survival) urge to swim against the current for shore, and to let it take you out...when you are exhausted and tired...
I have seen this time and time again, being an avid big wave surfer all my life...
Here in Hawaii, we are all taught at a very young age to swim and the ebb and flow of the ocean...as well as to ALWAYS respect the ocean...As beautiful as she (ocean) may be ...she is equally deadly...and will take your life without notice...
I would venture to say...that ....That night was a GOOD night for you...as you have experienced/learned a tremendous life lesson to pass down to your loved ones...and... have your boat back... because a large number of people don't survive the experience...
God Bless all of you... and stay safe!

After seeing the boat drift away I had already come to terms with the loss, and at that point was trying to forget it and move on the best I can.... she however must have known how miserable I was going to be after the fact :) It was funny because she kept hope, when I had lost it. I was one happy guy seeing that boat resting on the rocks...Comment

Jason, thank you for sharing, it takes courage to post a real story like this and it will help other boaters in the future to make the right decision!
So glad that you got your boat back, the lady deserves a metal of honor!
It is hard to see our beloved boat drifting away, been there myself although a cheaper boat, it's the emotional attachment we have and frankly without that we won't be here. But it was the admonishments from the Forum that was ringing in my ears on that day....
BTW, I got mine back as well.....Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Awesome outcome brother ! .... This reminded me of being 8 years old and camping on the kern river. I was out shooting my BB gun with my mutt dog Rex (half Queensland Heeler half weenie dog) one of my favorite things to do at that time was shooting bull frogs . That day I wanted to throw some thing in the current for a moving target so I found me a empty Budweiser can. I wasn't thinking too much about Rex when a chucked the can out to the middle of the swift moving Kern river but that's when Rex jumped in . Sun was setting tail wagging in the water after the can around the bend and out of sight he went ! lol. I was screaming and crying because I thought I just lost my dog, parents came running because they thought I was drowning. About ten minutes later Rex came back with the can !
I know the feeling Jason ! lol"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."
