Why not just use a small radio box and seal it up?

I have a feeling that had this discussion taken place a few years back, the radio box would have come up. In the past only a handful of extremely experienced boaters could do that ( potting the ESC). As more and more "water proof" products are being marketed, people especially newer boaters are hoping to have a 100% fool proof way to avoid water damage without resorting to an unwieldy box.
Now to avoid another wave of scathing remarks , when I say new comers, I don't equate "new" as "inexperience", I merely mean a newer generation of hobbyists who started FE in the Lipo era may prefer to have a different approach.

I use a conformal coating spray that has a UV detector so you know you have full coverage.

The 3m Conformal has been used for years by RC hydros...if anyone remembers the best brushed ESC on the planet. Worked very well. Still what I would use. Of course, the balloon and condom was also very effective for years.

Might have to get out on my vac former and design something. I have never had problems since most of us take the time to seal the hull and cable good. Unless you blow the hatch off you should not be getting but a teaspoon or less in a hull.. if so you should go back and check the hull and couplings...certainly the water cooling part. I still seal my cooling cans with silicone on the edges...I just don't trust o-rings and I also use zip ties on every connection...or nitro fule springs... at least

I used to use balloons but they will eventually pick up moisture inside and ruin the electronics, and they are not durable either and crack, it's just a cheap quick easy way to water-resist not waterproof for a short time.

What I found recently and works well was found at Walmart. You may find it at other places I'm sure like Home Depot or Low's. It's made by Rust-Oleum. It's called Leak Seal. It comes in a can or spray. I got the can for $12.00 if I recall correctly. I've dipped two receivers and so far no issue at all! Dries in few hours and the best part is it can be removed but it's not easy, which is good making it durable. It seals leaks, cracks, is water tight and even paintable. So far I like it! Good permanent solution on the cheap.

I'm with Monty for the record. I tried DP270 on a hextronic years ago. I didn't like how all the little pockets of air collected throughout the casting. The liquid tape was the best.
