I have a motley crew and a Lucas oil and LOVE them both!! They run great and are reliable, parts and upgrades are readily available. I've run my MC in light chop and it dances on top of the waves. Obviously you can run faster downwind in chop and slower into the wind to avoid the blow over. Also, I've stuffed mine into a few waves and the boat pops right back up.

If your light chop is more medium to heavy chop(relatively speaking) a mono or v hull would be better for you.

Hydros are worse then cats in chop. Its a long shot but you could try calling Pegasus hobbies in Montclair. CA. They had stock last time I was there. They might ship it to you if they have one.

I will call them tomorrow morning. How long ago did you see one in their store?

        Thanks!

The flex are made from same material in all 3 boats, some people have good luck never break some go after 3 runs. Unless aquacraft have fixed this flaw.

Pretty sure they have done nothing about the flex issues, but then again it's only been happening since they released the Motley Crew.
Not sure what is up with Aquacraft but I have lost a lot of respect for them with some of their decisions. Like discontinuing the Revolt....Lowering motor quality.....
I have 3 of their boats but no more unless something changes.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

OVER FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS for a used boat??

FIVE HUNDRED eighty two for a new one??

Uhhmmm I do believe the op said "My price limit is in the low $300s."

Over low $300s yes... but well under $582... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Boat-Imp...-/201062717660 - no over-rated motor, no flex shaft issues and no cheap plastic battery tray.

Just trying to be fair & balanced

Okay, guys. I have purchased a Revolt 30 from a seller on EBAY after I verified its condition. Very excited about starting to learn about tuning the boat. I also have seen enough posts that talk about problems with the stock flex shaft and the collet. I plan on getting the upgraded ones here. Thanks for all your help and suggestions. This looks like a really great community here. I've been a RC airplane flyer for a few years, and gain lots of good help on RCGROUPS. I think I'll do ok here also......

                          Thanks a lot, fellas,
                          Mike

Enjoy and good luck, I think you are on the right track, the flex and collet are the items need an up grade first. You will need some props later, but to be honest, even with the plastic props that OSE carries, you will be enjoying the boat. The thing with the props is that you need a few of them to experiment, so go slow and do some more reading, no hurry in that dept. IMO

I second the motion on the flexcable & collet.

                              I bought one of these... http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...able-impulse31 -- and -- http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ct-ocfhe5mm15S - For my IM31

Not because of any reported issues... it was the ole ounce of preventive = pound 'o' cure type deal, better safe than sorry.

I would like to add something to the list if I may... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Boat_ESC.html -- it's programmable, stock one is not.

Lets you program the number of LiPo's (4s / 6s), set the LiPo cutoff to your pref and back the timing down from the preset 10-degrees to 7.5 degrees. It will also come in handy if you should decide to upgrade motors later on.
Good luck with your new boat

Right on! Nice choice, I love mine. I was pleasantly surprised by the speed and man does it corner! Lots of room for upgrades if you like later. Some guys have these up into the 70 plus mph range. (a little much) One thing to look at. The rudder has a nylon shear bolt that's designed to shear and have the rudder flip up if you hit something. It doesn't work and I did some serious damage my second run out on it. Since then I just moderately tighten the rudder top bolt and leave the nylon shear bolt where it should be, nowhere near this boat. This works very well. If you want to run the shear bolt hasksaw about 75% through it before installing. Never overtighten either rudder bolt or you will have issues!

                                Great purchase and good luck!
