Best way to cool an HM200A ESC?

Has there been a consensus on the best way to cool a HM200A ESC? I just got mine from OSE and I am wondering if just mounting a fan on the heat sink is enough or should I work on water cooling it, or some combination of both. I plan on running it pretty hard, as it will be connected to a KB45 8XL on 6S which I know is border line, but it was working OK with a Hex 120 before.
    Any thoughts?

What is a HM200A ESC?? I don't see a 200A offering from OSE anywhere. If it's the hi-model unit I am watercooling and fan cooling mine as it doesn't seem to hold anywhere near 200A w/o thermaling

      Ghost,

Steven doesn't list them but he does carry them and yes it is the Himodel ESC that you have. I am aware from Steven's test in another thread that it isn't capable of handling 200amps, it is more like 125Amps, but I don't think that will be a problem with my setup since my Hex 120 ESC was able to handle the load. previously.

From what I have read in various threads the hi model has been stated as good to 150 amps.... If I am correct the kb 8xl has been tested to 136 amps...I plan on running this combo in my 37 in mono on 4s maybe 5s or 16 cells...As far as cooling i will be w/c and adding a fan... Cant hurt to have extra cooling. I will also be running 2 water pick ups 1 for motor and one for esc...

I made a brass plate with 2 cooling tubes ..1 each side that sits between the heatsink and mosfets....used heat transfer paste between the mosfets and cooling plate...heat shrinked it together then cut the shrink away from the heatsink fins and mounted a fan on top of that..

            Lonewolf,
How are you planning on watercooling the ESC, adding a plate below the heatsink or some other method? Inquiring minds want to know........

150 amps, that is good to hear.

              Thanks Ghost,

That was what I was thinking about doing. Was the heat sink glued on or was the heat shrink just holding it in place on the fets?

the heat shrink is what's holding it all together

I forgot to mention that I waterproofed the esc first with the DP270 epoxy sold here on OSE

I may get a heat sink from a guy who does p/c repair that is a bit larger then the originlal and put the cooling tubes in between the fins (4 tubes). The reason for the larger heat sink is formounting the fan and attaching it to the esc. I have use the 4 tube method on a 100 amp oemrc esc and it hardly ever got warm...
Just my .02 It only shows 2 of the cooling tubes in these pics but you get the idea...

I guess I could get another larger heat sink as well, since I am the PC tech guy at my work, and Lord knows I have enough excess PC hardware laying around!

I like the larger h/s for several reason..
                            1 more cooling
2 gives more option to place cooling tubes
3give a nice area to mount a fan if sdesired and also a way to mount the h/s to the esc or to mount the whole inut

When looking for a heat sink have a pc of tubing in hand and look for one where to tube will need to be forced into the fins. T ighter fit means more contact meaning more cooling..

I did two of these esc's

After I water proofed them with Dp 270

One I am running on 2S I cut out one fin on the original heat sink and put a brass water tube in (times 2)

The other I am running on 6S and a KB (1200KV) and just added a large heat sink
It has a fan that fits it but I have never put it on as the boat has alot of room inside for air and it has not given any troubles (yet)
