Carbon fiber epoxy?

I'm trying to epoxy two pieces of carbon fiber together I scuffed up both sides mixed up a batch of epoxy and the two pieces chipped right apart there was no bond i'm using zap Epoxy it's Z proxy finishing resin looks like I might have to buy some new epoxy I thought this would bond to the carbon fiber

I know jb quick and jb weld bonds really well. It needs to be scuffed with very coarse sandpaper.

I'm going to need to Epoxy my carbon fiber motor mounts if this Epoxy doesn't stick to these two plates not gonna work well for my mounts either

Finishing resin is....for making a finish, not great at bonding. JB is very good, parts need to be free of any oil or grease and roughed up a bit though. What type of carbon fiber? For what purpose are you gluing the parts together?

I was doubling up two 2.5 MM carbon fiber plates for a stuffing tube support support and I also have to glass in carbon fiber to carbon fiber motor mounts

As said, Finishing Epoxy ( PT-40) is for finishing, meaning that it is much easier to sand than the PT-39 ( 30 min. epoxy). It cures with a more brittle quality than its counter part. However, it should not chip right apart like that. How long has it been on the shelf? I never use that for structural bond but on occasion I have used the PT-40 MIXED with milled fiber glass with no problems whatsoever. I just made a rudder bracket extender out of CG plate, 2.5mm, just to give you an idea, I sand with 80 grit sand paper and when I rub the areas where I plan to glue, the friction is very noticeable.

Well, the little amount on the inner wall of the cup is always brittle, especially for the PT-40. Yes, your results will be better with PT-39.
Sand and clean with acetone before applying the epoxy. I also clean the mixing cup with acetone and the mixing stick. JB weld is great but it doesn't flow well, so I use different epoxy depending on the application and location.

I use jb weld on everything that I do not want to ever come undone. It has not let me down yet. I've had hard flips at 90+ and it held. I use other epoxies for the esc covers and stuff I may change later.

Please don't use acetone it is EXTREMELY bad for your body, White Vinegar from the grocery store at $2.00 a gallon works great to remove uncured epoxy!

Yes definitely nitrile gloves even when you are sanding carbon fiber definitely don't want to get any of that On you and yes all my parts were clean it even popped off the wood really easy bought some west systems 105 epoxy the 207 Clear Hardner
