I have the Pursuit that I am setting up for NAMBA P Mono. I have been trying different motors. I have been using the same ESC - Seaking 180 V2. With a Castle 1515 2200KV motor I have gone 51.9mph. It ran great, as if it was on rails. That was with a M445 prop. I now have a 3 blade 447 sharpened, thinned and balanced ready to test. The weather is cold now (30 degrees F). My goal is high 50 - low 60mph. I am amazed that a out of the box boat can run like this. did upgrade the flex and I have the batteries on each side - not in the center. I do have a dual pick up rudder that I did not install yet. I am running 4S per NAMBA rules.

I did learn something about the boat, you need to Loctite all the hardware. I lost some bolts. The instructions tell you to check the hardware. I did check them when it arrived. When I noticed I was missing some bolts, 3/4's of the remaining hardware was loose. Lube the flex after every day out running. I did install an external antenna. I did loose reception one time. It shut down, I had to walk along the water to get it going again before I installed the external antenna. Good luck

Thanks for the info. Would like to know the results on the 447 three blade prop. I would have thought the extra blade would require coming down in diameter.

My first electric boat. Hk Pursuit . chucked the standard issue motor in the bin added a leo 4074 2200kv and 50mm jacket , 200amp esc, larger width rudder with dual water pickup and bigger lines to esc and motor, soldered on 5.5mm bullets, re epoxy rails and off you go. fast and stable on 4s . more fun on 5s and still runs only warmish. Owes me $500. great value in anyones language.

I would recommend that you use batts that are 5000mah and a minimum of 40C.
If you want to put a bit of work into it, the hk version with motor is fine. It needs a motor upgrade to start with as the one that comes with it is rubbish. A reasonable first upgrade is the aquastar 3972 2200 kv motor. The hardware that comes with the boat is good quality and has given no problems. It took a year of racing to wear out the flex shaft which I have replaced with a one piece unit.
Hi Peter, I have the hobbyking pursuit and upgraded to the one piece flexishaft from Kintec, I have run my boat twice and both times my shaft snapped in the same place where the flexi joins the solid shaft, have you heard of this problem as I don't really want to go back to the original set up of 2 piece flexi and solid shaft as it is a pain to grease unless you know the best way to do it, thanks Ian

                  Hi Ian
If you have snapped two shafts then they were either rubbish or there is an alignment problem with the driveline. Check the alignment of the shaft into the stinger and perhaps get some replacement shafts from OSE. I use an oiling tube and teflon liner and rarely remove the shaft as they are ones that I made up myself and they have a ferrule that prevents the shaft coming out. I have to remove the stinger to take the shaft out. Check also that your shaft is not rubbing on anything that causes friction and weakens the shaft at the point it breaks.
