32" Pursuit upgrades vs. Hobbyking version. Kintec Racing?

I've been researching online on different forums and have a few questions. I am looking for a fun fast boat that i can run on a large lake with lots of bays. I have narrowed my search down to the 32" Pursuit. Ive read about the Kintec Racing upgraded version of this boat that says it is a better hull for durability etc. Here is what they say about theres:

Hand laid fiberglass that has been Gelcoated on the exterior with Carbon Fiber Kevlar Hybrid cloth covering the entire interior, bottom, sides, seams and transom. Powered by a Leopard 40mm 2200kv motor with aluminum water jacket. Seaking 180amp esc with 7 capacitors, water cooled. Motor mount is also water cooled. Has a 2pc 3/16 flex cable and 3/16 shaft held by a 5mm x 3/16 2pc stainless steel collet. All CNC machined aluminum hardware included which consists of a 130mm long break away rudder with water pickup. Fully adjustable stinger. Stainless trim tabs with aluminum tab adjusters. Adjustable turn fins.

Why not just buy the $199 Hobbyking one and add the Leopard 4074 motor and 200a esc for $136 and the 2 4s Turnigy 3600 30c batteries etc...

I tried emailing Kintec Racing but they don't reply...

I've also considered the Revolt 30 or Aeromarine Titan 29.

    Any suggestions?

As far as the Kintec Racing upgrade is concerned it is pretty self explanatory...hull is beefed up and all major components are upgraded from built to a price point parts.....Kintec has a good reputation. It comes down to what you want to spend and put time, money and effort in upgrading basic boats.

For $200 you get the whole set up minus the esc and radio/battery. This will be my first build. 20 years ago i built a wood 30" hand laid hull with a gas outboard motor. What a build.... I was only 18... ok. It was 25 years ago then. I am learning with this build. I dont want to waste money on a motor and battery if im going to upgrade right away... I'm not real familiar with which battery to use with which motor and esc as of yet. What do you all think of the Ebay packaged motors and esc? Leopard 4074 with 200a esc and water jacket for $136 etc... How do i know what battery or batteries to use with this? Any suggestions? Also, the radios seem to be pretty cheap compared to 25 years ago... What am i missing here? Looks like i may want to upgrade the drive to like a .187 instead of the .15 that comes stock? Looks like I can get these upgrades from Kintec racing as well. I'm sorry i'm all over the place, but just looking to avoid some stupid mistakes. Thanks you guys. I really value your time.

Here's another setup from the Barracuda Pursuit on youtube. He used the 4082 Leopard. HobbyKing Seaking 180a esc. He says a Zippy 4s-5s 40c lipo (does he mean 4s or a 5s? or is there a 4s-5s battery?) He also upgraded the drive to a .187 instead of the .15 (4mm) stock one. If I build from scratch i would have to buy the motor mount and tabs and stinger, rudder, pickup etc all separate. It seems that I would be further ahead spending the extra $100 to have all of that and then upgrading the motor and drive...

Weclome to FE boating, it is a wee bit overwhelming at first....Buy RTR...bare hull....used....what batteries, esc, radio etc. ??? You might be best off buying a good RTR boat to begin with, run it stock and then look at buying a bare hull and doing your own thing with the experience you have now gained in FE boating.

Hi, I have the hk pursuit. I laid a layer of carbon inside the hull for strength. I use a T-180 v2 esc and a TP 4060 2200 kv motor. I can run a range of props from 37-47 mm. I use it for racing and often run against larger petrol boats but it can hold its own.
I would recommend that you use batts that are 5000mah and a minimum of 40C.
If you want to put a bit of work into it, the hk version with motor is fine. It needs a motor upgrade to start with as the one that comes with it is rubbish. A reasonable first upgrade is the aquastar 3972 2200 kv motor. The hardware that comes with the boat is good quality and has given no problems. It took a year of racing to wear out the flex shaft which I have replaced with a one piece unit.

I just made that decision in favor of the HK Pursuit, but I am already familiar with this hull and running gear. I have been racing one with a TP Power 4070 2200kv and Seaking 180 ESC, and parallel 60c 4s 5000mah batteries. I am the third owner, and the boat is pretty beat up. It was originally white, so it probably is not the HK version, but it does not appear to have been reinforced inside the hull. Initially, I just wanted a fresh hull to keep on hand for when I need to migrate the running gear over to it. I looked at the higher grade Pursuit options, but just could not resist the bargain price of the HK version, with all of the running gear and a "throw away" motor that I might even use in a sport boat some day.

When it arrived, I was happy with its construction, and glad that it has duplicate running gear. When I do need it for racing I will just transfer the hotter setup over to it, which includes my extended aluminum motor mount and stronger .187 shaft. Meanwhile, I am going to run it as a sport boat with the stock setup. However, I can't report on that yet. Still, I would think that the HK version with a motor upgrade would be a good starting boat for someone who is not planning to race for the foreseeable future.

You all have been tremendous help!!! Hopefully not just for me. I will order the RTR and then use some of the suggested tried and true combos you have been using. Thank you so much.

                              Hi Peter,

On my TP 2200kv motor I am running an Octura M445. Runs cool but I don't know the amps. Getting 47MPH (GPS reading) and would like to break 50. I have an M545 to try. Do you think that would do it without cooking the system? What is your favorite prop in the 37-47 mm range?

BTW - I also have my eye on that Aquastar 3972 2200 kv motor, but is out of stock in USA warehouse.
