I have different styles of boats kind of for this reason. I usually bring 4 boats, and they each have their strengths and weakness'. I've only broken into low-mid 70's with these boats, but that's all about to change with the KBB45" I'm building.
There is definitely a different type of excitement to being able to carve turns at speed, and 60-70 mph seems slow on calm water, but when I have run some of these boats, like the Sprintcat or the big Sniper, in rough water, it does get pretty exciting.

Didn't do much of anything RC this summer, life got in the way. But believe it or not the most fun the bunch I run with have is when we get 5 or 6 box stock SV 27s on the water. We all have much faster and more interesting boats to run but the SV's always have us laughing. We don't even really race them, it's catch the guy in front of you, when the timer goes off bring them in.....Never really been one for straight line speed in anything, I'm into turning laps against people, be it in a Kart or turning laps at Mosport for either bike or car open track days etc.
That's what is great about RC in general, something for everybody to play at!
Blows me away some of the speeds you guys are getting, I do love the videos people post of the speed runs.
50-70 mph around the markers with a bunch of other boats has a very different pucker factor!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I know it's more to it than that, the meeting people, hanging out and having a good time is part of it too. ........ but at this point in my life I don't have to time to do it. I have three young kids and a wife, and we live very busy lives and work full time jobs, and just don't have the time to commit to it. I really wish I could come down there and hang out with you guys.....the ones that seem to have a little "issue" with me and what I'm doing would change their perception of me......
No nerve struck here, I know what you mean. I haven't even broken 80 and 70 is getting boring LOL. I'm sure it would be a lot different if I actually had people to run with, but I make the most of what I have with what I am willing to put into it, and for me there is also a certain value to the alone time and solitude I get when I go run boats by myself. I am also heavily invested in off road RC racing, so boats play a different role to supplement my amusement.

Nah, it wasn't you I was referring to you. He knows who I'm talking about. I guess Some people just don't like what I'm doing and putting out there for everyone to see. I even had some clown pm me yesterday and tell me that I put a gps in my car and go ride around with it and then put it in my boat and take a pic of it. If that were the case, I would have broke 100mph a long time ago. Lmfao!

Don't worry too much about the naysayers Trav. I'm inspired, the saw record for open electric tunnel in NZ is only around the 70mph mark. You make that look easy to beat! Some more time and money and......woohoo!

I have to finish what I started with my rivercat. Having motor issues set me back a couple weeks. My custom rotor was made Friday and should be on the way to me. This weekend I'll see where I'm at, hoping for a little higher than I was. I'm not counting on it, but I've got my fingers crossed. Then once I do hit my goal, I have some other boats to tinker with (after my builds get done for my customers)
The delta force monos are a good choice. Probably more suitable than a revolt would be for you.

Well, once I get situated I kind of want a Aero-Marine 43" Challenger or a 48" Challenger Pro... The RiverCat you built me was great, but just not for where I live... "Ferrari on a rocky road".. I'm near a spot that has rough waters (Wake Zone Violators...lol).... But yes, Different boats for different things. I believe you told me that...lol

Now The Smock is going to make me wait to see what mono comes out next...
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!
