Well guys I decided to start on a rough copy of what I'm doing. Drawing it out just doesn't do it for me....I like to see how it's gonna look, look on the boat and how to lay it out...so after about 1.5hrs I cam out with a base. I'm being impatient because I don't have the slot cutter yet...so I bought a little Dremel cutter that is big enough to make a slot. 6 bucks so who cares lol. Anyway this is what I come up with.

What if I start a thread to show progress on it?

        He has no dovetail cutter.

That's going to be great Travis. Now that I have seen this I don't think using a standard strut is in my future. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

I started a thread on it to document my progress. if i get this thing working, i may send it out to be copied via cnc. id like to have them on more than one boat. This will easily unlock a little more speed. i dont like the line scratching, marking etc. This will ensure perefectly repeatable adjustments

BTW, a t-slot will serve your purpose almost as well as a dovetail as long as tolerances are kept tight. Are you going to add an adjustment screw? Using a small verifier caliper and just measuring the depth may be an easier and more accurate.

It's going to have a jack screw to move up and down. The a set screw or two to lock it down. That will take any slack I may have, out. I've never cut a dovetail before so I'm sure it will take me a few tries to get it right
